Looking at upgrading my current system and bringing the case, optical and hard drives, psu and peripherals across. Its currently a p4 2.8 m0 @3.6, 2g and a nvidia 7800gs. One thing i think i'd need is a better heatsink? From what i've read the budget C2's clock rather well? I've really only got £300 at the moment and the upgrade has been kinda forced by my gfx card starting to give artifacts and its out of warranty.

So, is that an ok start? i'd like something that I could change the CPU in at a later date, possibly for a quad, as i'm a bit of a nerd seti cruncher too.

Oh, one last question... i've got an OCZ StealthXStream 500w psu, that should suffice?

Looks fine, you could change the Ram to OCZ Platinum as it is the same price but it probably doesn't make a huge difference. Try it on the stock cooler to begin with, it isn't that bad for a bit of basic overclocking it seems but if you get a quad then you might want to buy a better aftermarket cooler.

The PSU is fine for that system.

As already mentioned, the stock cooler will allow a small overclock but if you are looking for a moderate overclock an aftermarket cooler is worth getting. I've recently just spec'd a mate and he's coping with the stock cooler until he wants to overclock more. 500W OCZ will do just nicely!

Not too far away from what I'm now running, the stock cpu cooler is managing to keep mine at 60degrees under full load after an hour, so it's not bad at all really.
