Hi all,

I'm looking to get a new build together using the good people at OcUK after having had my previous one for about 5 years or so (previous spec beneath new) and have put together the following bits and bobs. Anyone have any recommended parts they'd use over what i've selected? I've been reading up and figured this was a good mix and would hope that i'll see a rather large upgrade in performance? :)

Appreciate any input!

Thanks :)

solid!

personally would go for Alphacool Eisbaer 360 due to being cheaper, better performing and ALL copper AIO.
Or go with Aorus AIO to matcht he theme, uses Asetecs latest pump

cheaper then NZXT

Hi mate,

Thanks so much for taking the time to reply with so many alternatives for me! :)

I'm clueless when it comes to coolers, cases and PSUs in particular, so appreciate the input!
I'll look to updating my spec with the cooler and the case and i'll read up a bit more on the PSU. I'm happy with my memory, GPU and SSD choices though. I'm Samsung SDD man, always have been! Never going to spend 208ti + prices on a GPU or single component!

Again, appreciate your input and saving me money :D

@Converge

Aye, 2080ti is steep, but showing you roughly for the money you were looking at .. it can be done !

Fam member is quite high up in Samsung so have their drives personally, but also Channel managers and such well so don't pay for it lol .
Their quality is good !

What's your monitor ? 1440p 144hz and 2070s/2080s will be plenty !

What will be done with your old system ?

Double edge sword here, need people to spend money currently, but not to go crazy and leave themselves short ... Odd times indeed

heads up, Crucial selling theirt 1TB NVMe for £95,.....

Monitor is a ASUS PG2789Q (got it a few years ago now!), so yeah 1440p 144hz G-sync etc

I'll ideally look to sell my old one as a full system. I tend to keep the building/disassembling to others these days. Too lazy and clumsy :)

Here's what i'm now looking at with your input (MB because i'm impatient and don't fancy waiting till it's instock unless it's soon, so went next one up)

Went for a midi BQ case still as it comes with 3 of their fans, and they've always been great/reliable before, so factored that as part of cost.
Shrunk my SSD as don't keep much on my main drive anyway.
Went with your RAM choice and took on board your PSU opinion but went for BQ one.
(I want everything as quiet as possible basically)
CPU cooler, i went with your original recommendation as I fancied an AIO for a change.
GPU, i just can't justify that much one on item, so no 2080ti, easiest thing to upgrade though in future ;)

Now it's correct.
Half TB drive's sense making price is half of that Samsung's brand scam.

https://www.overclockers.co.uk/seag...solid-state-drive-zp512cm30041-hd-3ba-se.html
And that Seagate is already higher end drive.

BeQuiet is another big brand overpricer with luxury prices but basic level 5 year warranty.
10 year warranty PSUs cost lot less.

Also expensive but small motherboard without connectivity/expandability in full ATX case "doesn't compute" much better either.

The kind of jibes and comments you’ve said switch me off to replying to any of your input directly.
Well, if you'd prefer it straight and blunt, price Samsung keeps for those is straight scam with nothing to defend in it.
If it were MLC drive then that price would be OK.
But that's run of the mill TLC drive like most other drives.
Samsung's marketing just likes purposely misleading naming schemes.

Much respect for @EsaT from myself and others. and user knowledge in PSU is second to known . A rep which i cant mention nor their company have taken note of such imput and hopefully will increase RMA length going forward from such input (not bequiet - their marketing and German support to far to huge for them to change warranty period and they know it !)

@Converge
if you like bequiet (myself had their fans and PSU and AIO (which is Alphacool ) in my old rig - sponsoreed) , they are damn good quality . would drop 650w and go for newer version, but still 5yr warranty ! as above they wont move on that stance due to design and branding power

https://www.overclockers.co.uk/be-q...-platinum-modular-power-supply-ca-141-bq.html

I have Dark Power version :)

https://www.bequiet.com/en/psucalculator

even 550w with their PSUs will be at 80% but go 650w

if your going ITX then 32gb ram!! as you only have 2 DIMM Slots

look for Elite or Ultra if you need the wifi . least then you keep ATX format . or drop case sizing to something like Lian Li TU150

https://www.overclockers.co.uk/lian...ium-mini-itx-case-black-window-ca-77j-ll.html

Drop in 650w SFX unit

Good shout on the PSU, opted for that.

I made a balls up, and COMPLETELY misread the motherboard description :D
Thankfully they've now got the Auros Elite in stock, they must have heard my cries!

This is my current idea, likely to order tomorrow.

Went back to the Team Group memory because i've read the 3600Mhz C16 is optimal for 3900X.

I'm honestly not too bothered on warranties, I'd buy a new setup by the time 5 years was up, or leave it to gather dust as I think this might be my last hurrah with PC gaming.

Appreciate your help on this Orbital, been very informative! :)

Oh good point, man, I hadn't even picked that up either. I'll go for an external one, it's only once a month or so I use it.

OK OK you've twisted my arm with the Viper! :D

Just cost saving .

Or.go 32GB 3200hz viper for the same price at 8 Pack kit and OC to 3400/3600hz... No brainer

https://www.overclockers.co.uk/patr...dual-channel-kit-pvs432g320c6k-my-106-pa.html

Different train of thought on case since 801 is HUGE .
Base 500 with 3x silent wing 3s at the front .
Move stock 140mm intake to the top and slap in Dark rock 4/Pro for failure free air set up, compact and silent ...

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £136.63 (includes shipping: £11.70)

I ran 9 of these fans at 80% in lian li dynamic case , and before that in a fancy Jonsbo case right next to my 1st borns cot :D

****

With alphacool and bequiet being German companies, they have become quite close. Bequiets Silentloop was based on slim highest eisbaer, now the LT range from AC.
BQ used 2200 Pure Wings, which were just LOUD ! AC then used BQ as OEM for fans, but used 1500rom Pure Wing fans for a quieter AIO set up :)

Is a second Gen for BQ of AIO coming out but guessing it'll be delayed now

Fans/Case
I think i'll stick with the case I've selected thanks, would feel weird having a tiny case next to me in my study but I appreciate it as always :)

I'm going to stick with the Pure Wings initially, and if i find it still reasonably audible at load then i'll grab some Silents !

Looking forward to getting the beast now

Spend extra £20 on Gigabyte Gaming OC..

Difference between windforce and gaming is that gaming has 4 yr (after registering) warranty Vs 3 of wind.
It's also 2.5 slot in height due to bigger heatsink Vs 2 slots of the Wind . Worth the little extra for cooling and warranty

The standard one is on sale at the moment (£90 cheaper) and it’s only a stop gap until the new cards are released. Good shout though!

just had a quick look and the windforce version is now £509.99 from ocuk, wouldn't that be the best option given it £50 cheaper?, if case airflow is setup right the extra cooling of the gaming oc would be similar anyway to the windforce?

aye, going up due to low stock and low Pound Value . these were on good sale 2 weeks ago along with RX5700XT versions being £350-360...

Gaming OC would run cooler and keep boost speed higher and run fans a little slower . i think Gaming OC actually has equal or more heatsink fin area then Aoorus RTX cards! and Aorus RX cards have more surface area then RTX Aorus cards

might be handy if you sell and happy to help new owner with RMA etc

and just looks better being thicker !

OMG OCUK increased again! £599.... nah, its around £520-40 mark !!!

Windforce is now £509 on SALE .... loosely on the sale tactic as was cheaper last week
