Hi all, I'm looking for any of your opinions on these 2 specs, the first one is my ideal setup while the second one is a cheaper option, would there be much real world difference between the two?

CPU: Intel i5 750...................Intel i5 750
Mobo: ASUS P7P55 D...............Gigabyte P55 US3L
Mem: G.Skill Ripjaw 1600mhz....G.Skill Ripjaw 1600mhz
SSD: Intel X-25M..................Intel X-25M
PSU: Corsair HX750...............Antec Truepower 650W
GPU: ATi 5870......................ATi 5770
Monitor: BenQ G922 HDL..............BenQ G922 HDL

The second list is £300 cheaper, would appreciate your views.

You could just post a budget (the maximum and what you would like to spend if you want), your uses and exactly what you need. We'll take it from there ;)

Oh, just saw the two lists. If you don't want to spend much then definately go with AMD, but still do as i said above.

Yeah i was thinking of that but to be honest the cheaper the better, say around the £800 mark but still able to play the latest games no problem, thats what the PC will be for.

I've not really looked into the Amd's since i had a skt 939 a few years back to be honest. As for the dual card setup i would rather just have a single fast card due to scaling and stutering issues. Lol that link is one in my favourites list i've trawled through that many.

Quite like what he's done, bit different :P I would go for the 1st spec as if the OP is into gaming the extra grunt of the 5870 will be appreciated.

Interesting there is no half way house 5850...

AMD 955BE, Asus M4A79XTD Evo, 5850, 600w Antec, OcUK or OCZ PSu.

Should be quite cheap and very capable of all games out now.

If the OP does not Crossfire they could get the Asus M4A785TD-V Evo and a Phenom II X4 955. The Asus M4A785TD-V Evo has an 8+2 phase VRM and cooled VRMs meaning that it should be fine for any overclocking.

The HD5830 is slower than an HD5850 but seems to be considerably faster than a HD5770:

It is currently £31 cheaper than an HD5850 1GB on OcUK.

Cheers guys, am liking all these suggestions, got AMD on the mind now lol, are they really as good/better for pure gaming/browsing?

Well considering in gaming they have been known to out perform an i7 in certain circumstances and even an old PII can browse 'well' i'd say they're better.
