Going to order some parts just want to make sure they r good and compatable.

Intel Core i5-3570K 3.40GHz (Ivybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor (77W)
Gigabyte Z77-D3H Intel Z77
Kingston HyperX Genesis Grey 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit

the retail CPU comes with a stock HSF and an additional 2 years warranty, the OEM version comes as is and only has 1 year warranty. If you're planning on overclocking then you should look at upgrading the HSF to something more substantial.

Personally would go with the ASUS Z77 motherboard thats £2 cheaper since a lot of people are having issues with that Gigabyte board.

That is just spare ram that i have, but wanted to make sure it will be compatible with this motherboard first. Also does this CPU come with a heatsink +fan ? should i get a better one ? hate loud fans!!

YOUR BASKET
1 x Intel Core i5-3570K 3.40GHz (Ivybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor (77W) - Retail £179.99
1 x Gigabyte Z77-D3H Intel Z77 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard £81.98
1 x Cooler Master Hyper 612S CPU Cooler (Socket LGA1366/1156/1155/775/AM3/AM2+/AM2) £32.99
Total : £294.96 (includes shipping : FREE).

Stick with the GB mobo. You get a 3 year uk based warranty, as stulid said it would be wise to update the BIOS. You can download it along with the latest drivers etc whilst you wait on the delivery.

I've added a 612S heatsink as it's geared towards being quiet but will still allow you to overclock the CPU well. It has easy mount brackets for two fans, so you could bolt on an extra fan for better performance. It also includes a tube of paste which you will be able to reuse. The Matterhorn is an alternative which cools slightly better, however it uses wire clips to hold the fans on and only has a single use sachet of thermal paste.

will that cooler fit in a Cooler Master CM-690 II Lite ?

I take it the gigabyte board is the better one then, will it be fine running until i can update the bios ? bios easy to update on gigabyte boards ? i have only used Asus in the past with there Ez bios update :D

The BIOS update is no more complicated than it is on any other motherboard. Just copy the BIOS image to a suitably formatted USB drive and install it by booting into the BIOS and finding the correct menu option. I believe you can also update from Windows, but I haven’t tried it.

The only problem I'm really aware of with the Z77-D3H is related to some graphics cards. If you have that problem you can just use the built-in graphics until the BIOS is updated.

yes it will fit fine fella.

@BIOS is gigabytes software tool to update the Bios. Or put the bios file on a USB stick and flash in the bios itself. The movo has a backup bios chip for peace of mind
