Any good, not too sure about lot of the stuff nowadays. £800 budget.

Unless you are going to be majorly overclocking then I'd suggest that PC8500 is probably overkill, something like the parts below would offer you at least the same level of potential because of the better cooler and it is a bit cheaper as well.

OCZ 2GB (2x1GB) PC2-6400C4 Dual Channel Platinum Revision 2 XTC Series DDR2 (OCZ2P800R22GK) (Deal Product) £25.99

Tuniq Tower 120 CPU Cooler (Socket 478/754/939/940/AM2/LGA775) £27.99

You could get the OEM model of the CPU since you are using an aftermarket cooler, the warranty drops from 3 years to 1 year but if you were overclocking then it makes no odds to the warranty.

However if you aren't overclocking then you might as well just get the retail version of the CPU and forget about the aftermarket cooler to save a bit of cash unless you want the LEDs of the Tuniq.

Found out my mate will sell me his Gainward Bliss 8800 GTS 320MB because hes buying a 8800 GTX. Also hes gonna sell me his OCZ 2GB (2x1GB) PC2-6400 800MHz Reaper HPC Enhanced Bandwidth Edition Dual Channel DDR2. I also thought about it and decided I didn't need to spend extra money on a quad core so going to go for a dual core. The prices have me confused with the E6600 being more pricey then the E6750. Also I think I am going to overclock my CPU (and ram if the OCZ reaper is good enough) so I'm not sure about the mobo choice. Could someone more in the know help me out. Value for money is main priority.

The abit IP-32 pro is one the best in the P35 series in my opinion with abit definitly making the best bios's and easyest to use.

Id suggest against buying the 320mb GTS. It is no wehre near as fast as *** GT and 320mb really isn't enough now days. Stick to a 8800GT 512mb or the GTS 512mb which is faster then the 620mb by a long way. Or the GTX

As for processors really the E8400 is the one you want. It will overclock to 4ghz on air but you will require faster ram. Ram is cheap and you realyl dont ahve any reaso to buy second hand.

Also, what is he sayign he will sell these to you for? Id suggest this ram if you get a E8400:

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-093-CR

Get 4gb of it though.

The difference between the E6600 and E6750 is that the E6750 requires higher FBS and means the E6600 is the better choise for overclocking as it starts at a lower FBS. Although i cat remember if the E6750 has the higher multiplyer?

Hes selling it cause he has 4GB and doesn't use it cause he uses xp. I am also going to use xp. The reason I was going to buy them off him cause he would sell me them super cheap. About £200 for both the ram and gfx card. I don't want to spend money I'm not going to use. I will be using the system for Music, Movies and World of Warcraft. Also might start playing TF2 and CoD4.

Sorry did tyou say cheap? You mean super rip off right?

The 8800GTS 320mb is worth hardly anything. Its old technology. Its not got enough memory and its far far far slower then the 8800GT 512mb.

Its worth more like 90quid as even the new ati cards will kick its but.

2gb of ram costs you 30 quid. 4 gb of ram costs you 60 (ocz ram). Why would you pay 200?

By the way wow really benefits from 4gb of ram with all the people on screen.

YOu heard of WAR? (warhammer online: age of reconing). It looks to be absolutly amazing. Its split into 6 races in a 3v3 where its like a massive battle ground with PVP and PVE although concentrated on PVP or as they call RVR, relm vs relm. You fight to take regions over and eventually sack the eermy citys. Looks great :p

Thanks for the heads up, ill have a look so see how much the 8800gts 320mb is on the aution sites.

I saw a little bit about WAR but not really looked into it. Sounds pretty sweet.

then you should warhammeralliance.com is a good forums for it too.

Really the 8800GTS 320mb isn't a good buy. Oftern the desire for a good price takes over when selling to a friend who may not know.

Not worth it. Its nothing compared to whats on offer. He really is trying to rip you off. Id buy the ram for under what ocuk sells. Your choise how much lower you want to play. haggle it though. The garphics card is a bad buy though.

Get the E8400. It will overclock to 4ghz on air and will be all you ned for quite a while and with the ram taht should help. I beleive the E6750 turned oput to be one of those no go cpus. You either got the E2180 or the E6800 or now the E8400.

Secondly 8500 800mhz ram cant be possible (i thought). 8500 is ment to be like 1000mhz/1200mhz cant remeber which now .

If you decide not to get the E8400 then the 1000mhz+ is wasted as you wont really require it for overclockikng the lower cpus unless you have water cooling so it may be better to save monejy and the get OCZ 2x1gb ram instead.

Do you know which out of theese it is? http://www.overclockers.co.uk/produ...1&catid=8&sortby=priceDesc&subid=817&mfrid=12

ASlso to save money you could get the 520w corsair. Your pc will be running 400w probably, maybe less.

On a side note, sometimes raid may be better then a raptor and can probalby do raid 5 for not much more or even the same price. Raid 5 will give you the speed of raid 0 (2 hard drives copuying half the data onto each to speed it up) but add another hard drive in which is copying the data over onto that as a back up.

Raptors dont really speed up games that much, only the load times which arnt really that long anyway and i dont beleive they realy speed much bot the pc boot up.

Also personaly i wouldn't buy XFX. If they go wrong you can wait 6 months for an RMA and some people have had XFX tell them they dont have an XFX card claiming they have no reculation of it. However your warrently is with OCUK if you buy it from ehre so i gues tahts ok. Still, with BFG you will get a 48 hour rma serivice. ALso the OCUk one will overclock to the same speeds as the XFX and BFG usualy anyway. Just food for thought.

Bit late for that now, already ordered it :( Ah well. Am still very happy! Thanks anyways.

I mixed up the number and I got the OCZ 2GB (2x1GB) PC2-8500C5 1066MHz Reaper HPC Edition Dual Channel DDR2 for 60 quid.

Dont worry about it. Still a great pc and youd be waiting for the 8400 to come in stock. However you can cancel it and wait if you want. You would have a 4ghz dual core on air cooling if you did :p

Tempting but I am super impatient. Can always upgrade in the future.
