Intel Core 2 Quad Pro Q6600 "Energy Efficient SLACR 95W Edition" 2.40GHz (1066FSB) - OEM

Asus P5Q-E Intel P45 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard

Corsair 4GB DDR2 XMS2 PC2-6400C5 TwinX (2x2GB)

Is this spec ok? I already have a cooler so I won't need a new one

Thanks

Its all OK, but if you want more constructive advice then please provide the following
What are you going to be using it for?
Are you keeping that gfx card in your sig? What resolution do you use?
Whats your total budget?

If your main use is gaming you'll get much more benefit getting the equally priced E8500 than a quad Q6600
Rest looks fine, though not sure what difference is between the E and pro versions of the boards, do you need to spend the extra £9 on the E? (not a lot I know but it all counts)
If you're getting P45 cos you're thinking of maybe adding a 2nd card in crossfire later then crack on, however if you dont think you'll be using crossfire then it'd be worth looking at a P43 chipset, the Gibabyte GA-EP43-DS3L would save you about £30 again, your call though

Have you already got a CPU cooler, the OEM Q6600 doesn't come with the intel stock cooler.

If it's for gaming then you could look at a dual core CPU, something like the E8400, especially if you don't plan on overclocking.

Also, unless you need the extra features on the P5Q-E, you could save some money and go for the PRO version instead.

would get a dual core if gaming, e5200, e7400 or up to e8400, depending on what you want to spend and how high you want to overclock. they should all hit 3ghz no problem which is what you will need to game. 2 year old quad isn't necessary tbh

rest of spec looks fine

I would go with a quad personally. Games are beginning to take advantage, the likes of GTA 4 for example. You can clock the quad to about 3.5Ghz no probs, so I don't think an E8400 is going to be miles ahead of it in terms of fps in certain games.

I do have a CPU cooler so I won't need to get one.

The E8400 is the same price as the quad and I will be clocking it up to 3 gig.

I did look at the pro but I will use the eSATA on the E so I think it will be worth the extra
