Hello,

Thinking of putting a new build together in the new year, I have a rough idea on what I want component wise.

Component wise I'm thinking Haswell refresh, msi mpower mobo and a 780ti. I will be reusing my current PSU (Corsair AX1200), Aquaero 5LT, SSD and 2 x HDDs from my current build.

Watercooling is totally new to me, I've done some research and come up with the following and I'd like you lot to rip it apart and suggest alternatives.

I'm after something compact and obviously very quiet and very cool (hence the w/c-ing ha) with the view to probably put in another 360 rad to cool my graphics card(s sli could happen haha).

What case would you suggest? I like the Corsair 540 but it is too wide to go under my desk, I really like the 550D but cant fit an extra 360 rad in it... Oh and I am not a fan of windowed side panels :-)

Here is what I have:

YOUR BASKET
1 x OcUK Tech Lab - XSPC D5 Vario Pump & EK-D5 X-TOP CSQ Value Combo £84.98
1 x Hardware Labs Black ICE Radiator SR1 240 £55.98
1 x EK Water Blocks EK-Supremacy - Acetal £49.99
1 x Bitspower Z-Multi 150mm Water Tank £36.98
2 x Primochill Primoflex Advanced Tubing 16/11 - Black £5.99 (£11.98)
2 x Mayhems Ultra Pure H20 Watercooling Fluid 1L £4.99 (£9.98)
1 x Mayhems Fine Silver Kill Coil £4.5
8 x XSPC G1/4" to 7/16" ID, 5/8" OD Compression Fitting (Black Chrome) £2.99 (£23.92)
Total : £278.30 (includes shipping : FREE).

Oh an I have 2 GT1850's that I want to reuse on the radiator.

I would say be gentle... But bring it on....

Thank you :-)

(I don't really have a budget as of yet, but I'd say up to £300 for the water cooling side of things for now)

edit: changed tubing, compression fittings, added silver kill coil, changed cpu block

Get the Primochill LRT tubing instead of the XSPC stuff. More reports of XSPC tubing leeching. And the GPU block is going to be at least £60/70 so would blow your £300 budget.

Don't need compressions for the pump unless you pick up a top for it. The 7/16" will stretch quite nicely over the 1/2" barbs.

As for case uhmmm .... you kinda have to pick that but options could be Arc Midi R2? 750D? Switch 810? Enthoo Primo?

Cheers for the reply... I like compression fittings as they look neat and tidy haha, but saves a few quid, cheers.

I'll change the tubing and the budget was mainly for the cpu cooling to allow for a strong enough / upgradable set up.

Cheers for the reply =)

Have you thought about a silver kill coil or biocide.

You may also think about a corrosion blocker as you're mixing nickel and Copper and Brass.

Also, why get a Nickel block when you can't see the nickel through the top. The cooling difference between nickel and copper is minimal. Any reason?

Added a silver kill coil.

Went for the nickel block simply because it was black ha, changed it tho now.

Thoughts?

Still think the Waterblock is overkill.

There is a difference between the Supreme and Supremacy, but it's 2c difference, and I'm not sure that 2c difference is worth £20, unless you want the clear top.

Everything else looks golden. Nice rad and pump for future expandability. Also keep some cash saved away as you may find you need 45 or 90 degree angling for the tubing. or even a anti-kink coil
