Hiya,

Any potential problems with the following combination please?

MSI Big Bang X X79
4820K
Corsair Vengeance Pro Red 2400Mhz Quad DDR3 (comes in 32GB pack but only plan to use 16GB and sell the other half)
EVGA 780Ti ACX x2 in SLi
Be Quiet! Dark Rock Pro 3 CPU cooler
AX 860i PSU

All to go into a Carbide Air 540 case

Only thing I am unsure on is the RAM and also if the PSU is OK for the setup?

Firstly, there is no such thing as Z79, do you mean Z97? If so, that i7 4820k won't fit, the 4820k is socked 2011 and Z97 is socket 1150, you might mean to get the i7 4770k/i7 4790k. I wouldn't necessarily go for Vengeance RAM, just get a 16gb kit of something decent and cheaper than that vengeance (TeamGroup RAM or similar.) What are you going to use the PC for - gaming, video editing? :) If for gaming, 8gb RAM is more than enough, 16gb isn't needed really. That PSU should be okay, though I'd go for a SuperFlower Leadex PSU as the AX860i is made by an average OEM, SuperFlower/EVGA units are made by SuperFlower and are really good :)

Meant X79 - Typo and edited.
Will be a high end gaming machine.
I already have the PSU in the current machine.

Right-o. That PSU should be fine then, no point in buying another :) Don't go for the 4820k, the 4770k/4790k are better performing and the Z97 boards are cheaper. What is your total budget?

Also, 8gb RAM should be plenty though if you really want it you could go for 16gb (really not needed though.)

I don't have a top budget - What I am mostly interested in is getting the best out of the 780Ti SLi Combination - Will I not be able to push better results out of a X79 board?

The board wouldn't make much of a difference - the CPU (especially with SLI) does. I'd get a 4790k over a 4820k any day of the week, it's a better CPU for performance. It should hold up very well with a 780Ti config, though if you wanted to go completely OTT you could go for a 4930k haha (not worth it at all for gaming though.)

I already have one Ti so changing cards is not an option.

How about:

4790K
MSI Z97 XPower
2x 780Ti in SLi
2400mhz 16GB DDR3 Dual Channel of some type- Question here - is 4x4GB a better option than 2x8GB?
Dark Rock 3 Pro Cooler
AX860i
Carbide Air 540 case

^+ your second 780ti. I'd maybe change the h105 to a 100i but the 105 performs better. That's my personal preference though, the 105 is probably a better choice the.
