Ok, I lied, there isn't a difference, but for a second you thought it was going to be something other than the usual
I'm using the computer primarily for music production (Cubase, Sibelius), gaming and the other usual stuff. I already have an lcd, speakers, soundcard etc.
I haven't overclocked properly since when the Amd 2500+ @ 3200 levels was the thing to do
(Which is still running now!) Like many others I'm hoping to get the E6300 to 3ghz where it'll stay hopefully, I'm sure it'll be plenty fast enough for me. But I may try and push it further (hence the ram).
Anyway how does this look:
Intel Core 2 DUO E6300 "LGA775 Allendale" 1.86GHz (1066FSB) - Retail £107.99
Asus P5B-E Plus (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard £97.99
Crucial 2GB (2x1GB) DDR2 PC2-5300C3 667MHz Tenth Anniversary Dual Channel Kit (TY2KIT12864AA663) £179.99
Tuniq Tower 120 CPU Cooler £28.99
BFG GeForce 8800 GTS 640MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail £247.99
Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 320GB ST3320620AS SATA-II 16MB Cache - OEM x2 £113.98
Lian-Li PC-7 PLUS Aluminium Midi-Tower Case - Black £48.99
Corsair HX 520W ATX2.2 Modular SLI Compliant PSU (CMPSU-520HXUK) £59.99
Total : £1,053.81
My only concerns (at the moment!):
Motherboard: There seem to be a few P5 type boards with few noticeable differences, will this one be OK for me? Also, I've heard people comment that this board only has one SATA header on the board, is this true? What if I want to add more SATA drives?
Case, is the PC-7 PLUS big enough for the 8800 and Tuniq tower?
Finally, will the motherboard come with all the cables I need? All I can see is I'll need to buy another SATA cable?
Cheers guys! I hope the hardcore OcUKers who are still awake can help otherwise this'll be getting a breakfast bump in the morning
