Ok, I lied, there isn't a difference, but for a second you thought it was going to be something other than the usual :p

I'm using the computer primarily for music production (Cubase, Sibelius), gaming and the other usual stuff. I already have an lcd, speakers, soundcard etc.

I haven't overclocked properly since when the Amd 2500+ @ 3200 levels was the thing to do :D (Which is still running now!) Like many others I'm hoping to get the E6300 to 3ghz where it'll stay hopefully, I'm sure it'll be plenty fast enough for me. But I may try and push it further (hence the ram).

Anyway how does this look:

Intel Core 2 DUO E6300 "LGA775 Allendale" 1.86GHz (1066FSB) - Retail £107.99
Asus P5B-E Plus (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard £97.99
Crucial 2GB (2x1GB) DDR2 PC2-5300C3 667MHz Tenth Anniversary Dual Channel Kit (TY2KIT12864AA663) £179.99
Tuniq Tower 120 CPU Cooler £28.99

BFG GeForce 8800 GTS 640MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail £247.99
Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 320GB ST3320620AS SATA-II 16MB Cache - OEM x2 £113.98

Lian-Li PC-7 PLUS Aluminium Midi-Tower Case - Black £48.99
Corsair HX 520W ATX2.2 Modular SLI Compliant PSU (CMPSU-520HXUK) £59.99

Total : £1,053.81

My only concerns (at the moment!):

Motherboard: There seem to be a few P5 type boards with few noticeable differences, will this one be OK for me? Also, I've heard people comment that this board only has one SATA header on the board, is this true? What if I want to add more SATA drives?

Case, is the PC-7 PLUS big enough for the 8800 and Tuniq tower?

Finally, will the motherboard come with all the cables I need? All I can see is I'll need to buy another SATA cable?

Cheers guys! I hope the hardcore OcUKers who are still awake can help otherwise this'll be getting a breakfast bump in the morning :D

Breakfast bump

Yes that's a very nice spec. Probably can't help with the questions though.

Mobo has 6 sata headers on this pic, so no worries there.

PC7 should be big enough but I don't know.

Mobo comes with all the cables. The only one you might want is a rounded IDE for a dvd drive as they often give you flat ribbon cables.

Cheers guys! P5BDeluxe it is, I'm going to be scratching my head over the 1950xt/8800GTS dilema right up until I press buy I suspect.

DarkShadow: There better be pics! :D

Are you sure that the 520w PSU is gonna be good enough? If I was you I would get the 620 minimal

Well everyone seems to be raving about the Corsair being very stable even if it is relatively low in terms of wattage (compared to others), maybe I'll do a bit more searching to see what other people are running.

I have just got myself the Corsair 620w psu. It turned up today, and I have an skt 939 system with an x1950 xt gpu :)

It will serve me better in the long run when I transfer over to C2D ;)

If planning to Overclock (or even if not), get faster RAM like the GeIL 2GB (2x1GB) PC6400C4 800MHz ;)

520W is even more than enough for a (single) 8800GTX system

Ayyyy everyone in the memory forum has been bumming on about how this Crucial 10th anniversary stuff is the dogs  Even though it's 5300..

Why aren't things ever simple!

Cheers for the PSU reassurance.

Ordered :D

Went for the 1950xt in the end. Can't justify an 8800 at my current res, would rather wait 4-6 months, get a high res LCD and something DX10-able then.

Thanks for everyone's help

Woot my PSU (Crucal 520watt) has arrived from a competitor (out of stock on OcUK), just waiting for the big delivery now :D

/pointless post but I'm excited and we all know how it's like waiting for new gear :)

EDIT: Now everything else is here woo! :D
