Hi all, its that time again! :p

I have around £800 to spend on a whole new desktop, including monitor, but OS is not needed as i have already attained that. At first I came up with this:
http://img71.imageshack.us/img71/3792/specbf8.jpg

Just a few questions I had while picking the parts, which are:

1, The E6750. I noticed it is cheaper than the E6700, I was wondering if this is due to the Intel price drop or am I missing something, like the multi etc.

2, The Ram. People say that the PC6400 is just a higher clocked version of the one I chosen and that it is the same chip, so will this chip be adequate to be overclocked higher.. Ive seen that it can be, im just making sure hehe.

3, The motherboard. That is what i hardly know much about, well being what kind of board I might need for Overclocking features. I did see something like the:
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MB-124-AB&groupid=701&catid=5&subcat=

I just didnt know which to pick.

Thanks for your time and im sure someone will come up with a better spec that I have chosen. I will be overclocking and will be using it for work and gaming.

Thanks again! :D

That looks like a very good spec.

Change the HDD for the AAKS version of it, its faster and newer.

The E6750 has 1333MHz FSB unlike 1066MHz on the 6700 - this allows it to be overclocked better not to mention greater performance.

The RAM will easily overclock too 1000MHz+

Keep the motherboard, the P35 chipset is better than the 650i on the Fatal1ty one. Those GByte boards overclock very well and are generally very good boards.

Up the cooler to a Noctua/Tuniq Tower for a decent OC.

Thanks a lot, I was just wondering why the E6750 was cheaper than the actual E6700.. Im guessin its due to the intel price drop mixing them all up... Not that im complaining.

Also, you mentioned the Noctua, would it fit ok on that motherboard (not touching anything else) I know the monitor is abit on the cheap side, but its the only way to fit nice bits into such a budget.

If your serious about overclocking, drop the processor down to an E2140 (they can oc to around 3ghz fairly easily). And as suggested get the tuniq tower, should fit ok in the case.

Id also go for this PSU, for a little more you get a lot better quality and reputation.

I wouldn't go that far, the 1333MHz FSB will have an impact and those processors have been seen hitting 4GHz. You could maybe drop it for a 6550 and hit 3.5+GHz if you go over budget.

The OCZ PSU's are good, the Corsairs do have a very good reputation though and you don't need 600W for your spec. Up to you on the PSU.

The 6750's are newer models which only came out 8 days ago, the 6700's will go down in price AFAIK but they havn't yet.

Yes the Noctua will fit fine on that motherboard.

wow, i did choose that PSU when going over the spec like a week ago and it was £80+ now its back down again. Just my luck  I cant say ive have much experience about Overclocking, apart from when i was trying it out on my SD 3700+ from 2.2 to 2.6. I didnt want to get a too low of CPU, just incase i mess things up and have to leave it at stock, as hard as that sounds lol.

*edit* Also just noticed the Corsair one is out of stock. Anyone know of another reasonable PSU?

Thing is, wouldnt you be prepared to push a £50 processor further than one double the price :P

The stockings seem to vary wildy, it was 10+ in stock when i suggested, id say its worth waiting a few days before replacing it though.

It does seem nice, Im just outa the loop with all these new processors hehe :p. Ive been putting this off for awhile now, since I sold my previous one to my sister and she nearly paid off the debt now, so it will be all hers soon enough, so getting ready to get one.

Another vote for the Corsair HX 520W ;)

Think most will agree that its the best PSU if going with single graphics card system :)

Ok, so PSU will be a corsair, if it comes into stock anytime soon and ill knock down the CPU to an E6550 as it has the same cache and FSB, just abit cheaper than the E6750. Everything else ok? :)

Yeh, youll have a good little rig there, (almost identical to one im buying next month:P). Go buy it :P

Haha, funny thing is.. Thats where I got my inspiration from ;) So many nice shiny things to buy, but to keep it in budget and make it a reasonable excuse as to why it will make a giant dint in my bank account isnt worth it lol

Lol i know what you mean. so tempting to just add an extra £10 for that faster ram...and 10 more for a shinyer case, and £30 more for a better graphics card, and before you know it youve made a £2000 spec ;)

well ive had the chance to knock up the price to £900 without questions being asked.. well questions that i cant lie through my teeth to! :D I guess i can get a mouse and keyboard too, to add to it.
