Hey guys building a computer for a family member. It will be mainly used for office work, internet, music and video, general family stuff. Budget is under £500 would there be anything you would change or does this look ok

Also is there anypoint in goin for the 800mhz over the 667mhz stuff?

Looks good, especially if you intend to overclock. You might wish to switch the hard disk with a 320 GiB WD AAKS since they're a wee bit faster but it won't make too much difference.

Why get a 32-bit OS? 64-bit all the way.

What difference would the 64bit os make. This system most likely will not be over clocked. The standard performance be enough to preform everyday tasks?

maybe drop the motherboard to the abit ip35-e, being as you're not likely to overclock, save £12ish.

performance will be more than enough for everyday work, saying that even the 2140/2160 would do.
 
seemed to be doing well in the p35 format from posts i've read and other spec's suggested.

being as u;re involved if you're happier with the gigabyte then fair enough, as you'll get the grief if anything doesnt work ;)
 
Rite o. Ill give the abit a go any way. Would there be any point increasing the size of the harddrive to 400gib, or would the performance be decreased?
