Hi guys,

Thinking of buying the following spec. It will be used for gaming only at 1920 x 1200.

GeIL 4GB (4x1GB) PC2-8500C5 1066MHz Black Dragon DDR2 Dual Channel Kit £64.99 (£76.36)

Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 LGA775 'Wolfdale' 3.00GHz (1333FSB) - Retail £99.99 (£117.49)

Scythe Infinity/Mugen CPU Cooler (Socket 478/754/939/940/AM2/LGA775 £26.99 (£31.71)

Powercolor ATI Radeon HD 4870 X2 2048MB GDDR5 TV-Out/Dual DVI/HDMI (PCI-Express) - Retail £299.99 (£352.49)

Antec Three Hundred Ultimate Gaming Case £29.99 (£35.24)

Asus P5Q Pro Intel P45 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard £81.99 (£96.34)

2x Akasa AK174CB-4BLB 120mm Blue LED Fan £15.98 (£18.78)

Total : £741.27

I have a few questions:

a) i plan to overclock. for similar money are there better cpu/ram/mobo combo's that would give greater overclocking potential / performance?

b) will my current corsair hx 620w psu be ok to power this?

c) which case would people recommend out of the 300 / 900 antec's?

d) will the Scythe Infinity cpu cooler fit in the above two cases and on this mobo?

Thanks

a) not really, you picked good so far
b) should be fine :)
c) i dont like any of the 300/900 etc but just because of their looks, performance and feature wise they are great, prob better goin for a 900, 300 too small really.
d) yes

edit: didnt realise you have picked 4x1gb memory. I'd go for 2x2gb, better upgradability and performance :)

Thanks Aceshigh.

I didn't even realised I'd picked 4x1gb either! Thank you for pointing that out!

1 final thing before I order. I'm weighing up between an X2 or the 1024mb 4870. At 1920 will i notice a big fps difference between the two?

Thanks again
