Here is what I have so far

Probably not the best combo(Was never that great at this stuff anywho)

So I might aswell say what I will be using it for, mainly college work and gaming, my questions are..

Can it be made cheaper and better? My max budget is £900(Which doesnt mean I have to spend up to 900, cheaper is better :))

Also what about these solid state hard drives? Would having one be good? Like just installing the OS on it and the programs/games on a second hard drive.(Which is what I've done on this pc.) I also don't really intend to overclock :D

Thanks for any replies and help :p

I know it's only gonna save a couple of quid, but I'm pretty sure any SLACR q6600 can overclock to at least 3ghz.

I wouldn't go for the sapphire 4850; for £30 more you can get a 4870, so get a cheaper 4850, the powercolor extreme (£120), HIS iceq (£140), or the gainward golden edition (£140)

Looks a good build to me though you won't need a guaranteed chip to get to 3.0GHz not with that motherboard. Personally I'd go with the GA-EP45-DS3R, same but with RAID. If storing important data (such as college work) on my hard drive, cost would be another £50ish for the RAID mobo and a second hard drive, worth the money in case one fails though. I'd partition a RAID 1 setup one partition for OS/Software one for Data.

I used to run one hard drive for OS/Software and one for data but I think the payoff is marginal unless you're accessing data files and software files simultaneously a real lot or copying huge files about. Can't comment on SSD, though from my observations if you buy one now it will be half the price in 4 months time and blown away by a newer model. I'm gonna wait til things settle a bit, even if I do have to wait 10 seconds longer for a map to load when gaming.

Don't think you can save much elsewhere without sacrificing quality. Looks good :).
