Nice, made the changes and it's in budget (Would still have enough for bus fare) :)

So other than the RAM, PSU and GFX card, it is all good?

Kind Regards,

its good, either with your choice of psu or the Corsair psu you cant go wrong.

nice case too.

Looks good. We normally tell everyone to buy a Samsung F3 HDD, but there's probably very little in it. For £8 more you could get this mobo...

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MB-418-AS&groupid=701&catid=5&subcat=1124

...which has USB3/SATA6, if you think they might be of use to you, and also has a heatsink on the power devices which might help it supply a big overclock without breaking a sweat, especially if you upgrade to a quad-core CPU later.

If you changed the case and the speakers around you could probably get an i5 in there.

Slightly over budget by 17quid but worth it IMO.

Hello Nelson Santos,

I don't really need 1TB of storage. So kept the 500GB Barracuda, saving me £3.02

If, I'm reading the case spec correctly, hopefully I am .. The case comes with 2 fans? one rear and one front?

Referring back to my post above, if you're now going for a quad-core i5, I'd definately get the £8 more expensive mobo (at least) with a MOSFET heatsink. The little UD2 could struggle overclocking a quad. This came from one of the shop staff very experienced in overclocking...

do you mean the UD2?

if so, then i would be careful when clocking
the UD2 doesnt have any mosfet heatsinks

when you clock a quad [i5/i7] on it, it can blow the mosfets up and set them on fire.

the board is generally alright for things like clarkdale i3 cpus but i wouldnt personally risk running a higher TDP cpu on that board.

we did a series of 20 systems with that board in and they all had to be replaced as the i5 @ 3.4ghz was too much for them

just a headsup :)

Thanks for the heads up,
I ordered Stulid's edit, minus the speaker system. The Lancool seems good for the price, etc. and it is in my budget range.

Thank you all, very much, for the help.

And I have a problem.

I connected most of everything up all fine, but when I switch it on, it stays on for approximately 1 second then shuts off, and repeats until you turn the PSU off. The only things that are not connected at the moment are 3 of 4 fans in the case and the GFX card.

No idea what is causing it, as I removed most of the stuff one by one to see what was causing the problem, but same thing throughout.

Kingorgg

is the heatsink mounted correctly and plugged into the correct CPU_FAN header, the pc will switch off if a RPM isnt detected, temps get too high.

could also be the same with a system(case) fan.

why not try the graphics card in place.

try one stick of ram at a time, in different slots, then retest with the other ram stick.

is the case front panel cables in tact ( not cut/damaged and shorting out)

you did use stand-offs between the case and motherboard?
