Spec Check

thanks for the input guys.

Rexton, cheers. That'd save me a few pennies too. Is 530W ok for my needs then? I always thought that'd not be enough.

What video card are you running? Also note that Rexton's quote has only 4gb ram and you were originally looking for 8gb. Are on windows 7 64bit?

im running a 256MB 7600GT (*i think*) and at the moment I have Vista 32bit but I'm deffo gonna upgrade a little way down the line.
I want to future-proof as much as poss on my limited budget.

That psu is absolutely fine as is 4gb ram as well. If you are getting a 64bit operating system later, just get another 4gb later, or 8gb even better.

I noticed your into programming recording music?

I'm going back into music again and wanted to know what sound card you use?

I'm buying a new sandy bridge system this week and I'm just stuck on what sound card to get?

I know the Sandy bridge will handle the software and vst side but the on board audio won't.

So any help would be appreciated :)

If I where you I'd be looking at the ASUS DS or D1. I use the DS and it's brilliant.

Why go for expensive 8gb ram?

I've just bought this, it's a great price.

G.Skill RipJawsX 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (F3-12800CL9D-8GBXL ) £79.99

Thats £40 cheaper than the OCZ ram, yes it's not as higher frequency, but it's not really needed tbh. I was tempted to go for some expensive £100+ 8GB ram, but SB prefers lower timings than higher frequency, so £40 for a 266mhz increase isn't worth it.

Use the £40 towards something else tbh.
