Ever since my brother got a bonus at work he's been threatening to buy an Alienware. I've told him he'd be a moron to waste his money like that and offered to build him a PC.

He wants pretty much the best you can get, so I've spec'd him this:

Can any of you see any problem with this spec? Any suggestions on what I should change?

He's already got a 30inch monitor (hence the 6990).

Cheers guys.

If it's for gaming only then I would drop the cpu to the 2500k, as there is minimal performance difference.

+1

The ASUS boards seem to be having quite a few issues at the moment (not having this sodding argument again, if you don't believe me take a look in the Motherboards section and do some googling).

So I'd swap that out for an MSI P67A-GD65, or the £10 more expensive Gigabyte P67A-UD4-B3

The HDD you have is horribly slow, even as a storage drive - I'd consider swapping it for a much much faster 1TB drive - such as a Seagate Barracuda 1TB :)

As mentioned, you have two coolers, neither of which are brilliant (the CoolIT is better however).
