I'm sure you all love posts as wonderful as this but I would greatfull if anyone could just take a peek at the latest rig I have planned, and confirm that it is ok. I haven't been following the best and the worst of hardware for about 2 years so I'm a bit 'blind' at the minute.

AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 4800+ (Socket 939) - Retail £169.99

MY-079-CS Corsair 2GB DDR XMS3200C2PT TwinX (2x1GB) CAS2 £174.99

GX-050-CO Connect3D ATI Radeon X1950 XT-X SILENT Heatpipe 512MB GDDR4 AVIVO TV-Out/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail £244.99

HD-087-WD Western Digital Raptor 74GB WD740ADFD 10,000RPM SATA 16MB Cache - OEM £91.95

CD-020-AS Asus DRW-1608P3S 16x16 DVD±RW Dual Layer ReWriter (Black) - Retail £24.50

CA-090-CM CoolerMaster Stacker 830 - Silver Trim (No PSU) £129.95

CA-008-TG Tagan TG530-U15 530W ATX2.01 Easycon SLi Compliant Modular Silent PSU £62.99

MO-049-HY Hyundai ImageQuest N91W 19" Widescreen LCD Monitor - Black £135.99

MB-118-AS Asus A8N32-SLi Deluxe nForce4 SLi X16 (Socket 939) PCI-Express Motherboard £99.99

Subtotal £1,135.34
Shipping (City Link Parcel Next Day (Delivered Mon-Fri)) £24.95
VAT £203.06
Total £1,363.35

If you think there are any adjustments I should make then I have a budget of about £1400, bearing in mind that I'm going to use it to play upcoming games such as BF2142, Crysis, ET: Quake wars, Spore and UT:2007

Also I'm guessing that the cpu comes with a standard heatsink as it doesn't actually say, while AMD do usually state that it comes with one.

Much Appreciated,
Matt.

Thanks for the quick reply.

I'll just check out another mobo and case then, aswell as the E6600.

Am I right in saying I would need DDR2 ram?

Matt.

Thanks again :). However this has added about 60 quid, without a case!
I have a Coolermaster Praetorian at the minute, so I'll probably keep that and flog the other components.

Intel Core 2 DUO E6600 "LGA775 Conroe" 2.40GHz (1066FSB) - Retail £194.99

MB-061-GI Gigabyte GA_965P_DS3 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard £91.99

MY-071-OC OCZ 2GB (2 x 1GB) PC2-6400 Dual Channel Special Ops XTC Series DDR2 £176.99

Really wasn't sure on the ram, got any recommendations for some reliable stuff, not really going to be overclocking the cpu.

Much Appreciated.
