Hi,

Was wondering if i could get any advice on the following spec:

CA-058-AN Antec Solo Quiet Mini Tower Case - No PSU
£54.99 £54.99
CP-128-IN Intel Core 2 DUO E6600 "LGA775 Conroe" 2.40GHz (1066FSB) - Retail
£191.99 £191.99
MB-152-AS Asus P5W DH Deluxe WiFi (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard
£134.99 £134.99
MY-034-GL GeIL 2GB (2x1GB) PC5300 667MHz Value DDR2 Dual Channel Kit (GX22GB5300DC)
£139.99 £139.99
GX-053-CO Connect3D ATI Radeon X1900 XT 256MB GDDR3 AVIVO TV-Out/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail
£144.99 £144.99
HD-087-WD Western Digital Raptor 74GB WD740ADFD 10,000RPM SATA 16MB Cache - OEM
£91.99 £91.99
HD-018-SA Samsung SpinPoint P SP2504C 250GB SATA-II 8MB Cache - OEM
£44.99 £44.99
CD-076-SA Samsung SH-W183 18x18 DVD±RW Serial ATA Dual Layer ReWriter (Black)
£23.99 £23.99
CA-017-OC OCZ ModStream 520w ATX2.0 Power Supply
£54.99 £54.99

Questions:
1) Will everything work fine together?
2) How capable is the graphics card? I dont do too much gaming, the odd game of company of heroes and world of warcraft.
3) The machine will be used for general use and some video production, does that change anything?
4) Is the secure thing recommended with the raptor really of any use?

Thanks!

Everything will work fine together.

But I would consider these parts instead-

GX-041-OK OcUK MSI GeForce 7900 GTO SILENT 512MB GDDR3 TV-Out/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail (GX-041-OK)
£153.99 £153.99
CA-001-SS Seasonic S12 500W Silent ATX2.0 Power Supply (CA-001-SS)
£67.99 £67.99

7900GTO is quieter and a little more powerfull with 512mb ram.

The Seasonic is quiet and probably one of the best PSU's OcUK sell.

Are you going to need a Heatsink?

I went for Ati because the motherboard has crossfire so i thought later down the line i could just put another graphics card in there.

Will consider the seasonic.

Dont plan on getting an aftermarket heatsink, will do little if no overclocking.

Would the following spec be any better?

CP-128-IN Intel Core 2 DUO E6600 "LGA775 Conroe" 2.40GHz (1066FSB) - Retail (CP-128-IN)

MY-034-GL GeIL 2GB (2x1GB) PC5300 667MHz Value DDR2 Dual Channel Kit (GX22GB5300DC) (MY-034-GL)
£139.99 £139.99
GX-046-CO Connect3D ATI Radeon X1900 XT-X 512MB GDDR3 AVIVO TV-Out/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail (3055) (GX-046-CO)
£214.99 £214.99
HD-073-WD Western Digital Raptor X 150GB WD1500AHFD 10,000RPM SATA 16MB Cache - OEM (HD-073-WD)
£140.99 £140.99
HD-018-SA Samsung SpinPoint P SP2504C 250GB SATA-II 8MB Cache - OEM (HD-018-SA)
£44.99 £44.99
CA-017-OC OCZ ModStream 520w ATX2.0 Power Supply (CA-017-OC)
£54.99 £54.99
CA-058-AN Antec Solo Quiet Mini Tower Case - No PSU (CA-058-AN)
£54.99 £54.99
CD-076-SA Samsung SH-W183 18x18 DVD±RW Serial ATA Dual Layer ReWriter (Black) (CD-076-SA)

Im not going to be doing any overclocking so i guess i dont really need such a fancy motherboard like the asus when the asrock with suffice? That'll allow me to increase the raptop to 150gb and the graphics to a X1900XT-X for only a slight increase.

I dont really want to spend any more than that on the PSU, would the hyper be a better choice?

Im not THAT worried about noise, but what would be the main culprits here, and what could be done about it (ideally without spending more money!)?

Thanks!

if you dont do that much gaming go for the x1800xt save yourself a bit of money, seeings as its as good as the x1900xt you wanted to get in the first place...

just a thought :)
