I am going to purchase the Dell 2707 monitor and want to build a new pc to go with it.

My problem is I don't know whether to build a gaming box or get a console to connect to my monitor to satisfy my gaming requirements.

Could you please spec me a £1,000 box for gaming and also say a £500-600 box suitable for everything except gaming i.e. browsing, music, office, burning and watching films and video etc.

My total budget is £1,500 including the monitor.

Ben M, I don't want two pc's. I cannot make up my mind on whether to have a gaming pc or have a cheaper pc (not suitable for gaming, but ok for most other stuff) plus a console connected to my monitor. Depends I suppose whether I think that games available on consoles are better than that available for pc!!!!!

Still cannot seem to make my mind up.

Namistai, no I don't require an OS. Also the board you listed is DDR3 and you have listed DDR2 memory. Otherwise looks good. I already have an Antec P182 case so will just need a PSU. Wouldn't HD onboard sound be good enough these days?

In answer to your other questions, I prefer Keyboard and mouse for games such as Call of Duty, although I am a big Halo fan also. Additionally I love driving games on the consoles using the gamepads i.e. PGR3 on Xbox360 and GT5 in the future on PS3.

I suppose I want the best of both worlds really and will have to build a reasonably powerful gaming PC and get a console as well.
