Spec for a Video Editing PC

I have a Dell Laptop with an i5 7200U CPU and it struggles when I try and edit any GoPro 1080P footage.

Is it possible to get a decent PC setup for around £500-600 mark. I'm not into gaming so it's purely for day to day use and GoPro video editing.

I'm presuming I'd need to go down the AMD Ryzen route, rather than the Intel i5 or i7 CPU to save a few £££

Probably looking for 16GB, with the option to upgrade to 32GB at a later date.

Would I be better going for the Ryzen 5 2600 and spend a bit more on a GPU, or go for a Ryzen 7 with a cheaper less powerful CPU?

I do already have a spare Samsung Evo 250GB SSD that I could use in it.

TIA

That you.... If i'm just using this for day to day stuff and video editing, is it fine having a low spec graphics card? Will video editing benefit from having a decent graphics card or not?

This is the only way to get something decent:

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £640.45 (includes shipping: £12.60)

gone over budget adding a 1030 for better and longer support as well as being better than the 730, other little differences to above, but not much more in cost.

you would be better off buying he screen and kb/mouse bundles elsewhere and likely 2nd hand for the screen to keep costs down and be a 'get started' type, plenty of nice screens for half he cost of that new one.

Google, GPU Vs. CPU for editing video, you'll be fine with GeForce GT 1030 better choice than mine. That cpu will go like a rocket ;)

That's what I'm trying to figure out, if I'm not gaming, then will having a better GPU actually give me any performance benefits or not? Is the majority of video editing work done on the CPU?

I guess it depends on the software being used and whether it can make use of a gpu. Maybe look at the minimum requirements for the software and try and find some benchmarks.
