Hello,

Decided I am going to upgrade from my 980ti to (most likely) a 2080ti, and whilst I am at it I have managed to convince myself to put it under water (along with my CPU).

So I am looking for some help before i go buying things, hope to get it for next weekend.

Main parts of my PC would be:
  • Board: MSI Gaming 9 X99S ACK
  • CPU: 5820K
  • GPU: 2080ti (making sure i get one that i can put a block on)
  • Case: Corsair Air 540

Looking around the OC site I came up with this so far:

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £1,601.04 (includes shipping: £0.00)

My thoughts on the above:
  • The EK Kit appears to have the majority of what I will need, and seemed to be cheaper than pricing each part it up individually.
  • EK 2080ti water block (I plan to grab a card with a founders board).
  • Palit 2080ti OC (founders board, but I have not checked about warranty of installing a water block).
  • As for the fittings, I plan to go from the back of the case to the CPU (90deg), from the CPU to the GPU (2 X 45deg), from the GPU to the Rad mounted in the front (90deg) which is where I will also put a split for a drain port as it will be at the bottom of the case (Y splitter, Ball valve, Plug).
  • Other bits to make life easy (filling bottle, cutter).

I still need to look at fluid (not sure how much i will need), and need to check if I am missing anything. Do I need a controller for the Pump?

Just wanted to know if this looks correct to put my CPU and GPU under water. Also is the EK kit a good idea or am I going to be using less of it than I think? Other suggestions welcome.

Thanks

Having a look around today i might switch the Palit card to EVGA just to make sure I don't have issues with warranty stickers etc. It will be the 2080 TI Black Edition.

if you're worried about using a kit, try EKWB's configurator https://www.ekwb.com/custom-loop-configurator/ . maybe you'll get away cheaper or see what you've misst. Fluid wise i would suggest that you take a premix instead of concentrate, that way you cant get the mix ratio wrong ^^'.
otherwise i dont see anything missing.

Thank you, I will have a look at the configurator, at the very least gives me some flexibility. I am not too worried about using a kit, it was more of a "are they worth it" question or if they are something to be avoided.

Mayhems X1 is really good, also Mayhems tube is excellent if you’ve not bought your tube yet.

Cheers, nothing purchased yet, just getting everything ready to order this week.
