Hi all been a while so I need a bit of help please. On a limited budget but I have some bits already.
Case, graphics card (PCI express, screen mouse key board. I will need a Mother board that can be built on over the next 6 months. Power, sound, chip cooler I am a bit confused and the main issue is budget at £250. Thanks for your help

What do you use the computer for/ intend to use it for?

Hi thanks for asking! It's for my boy and he wants to edit Vidio and hopefully build his spec up from the poor budget he has. So long as he can add ram maybe upgrade the CPU at a later date better graphics and sound that would be great. I think the main thing is he wants to build it!

Cheers

Tough ask for everything at a £250 budget... I'm assuming you want RAM, Motherboard, CPU and PSU to get a functioning computer.

I'd go for the following:
SuperFlower 450W PSU - £55
MSI Z170-A-Pro Motherboard - £95
Team Group Dark DDR4 RAM - £38
Intel pentium G4400 CPU - £54

Good PSU with a decent motherboard that can accept a much more expensive CPU in the future. I'd be tempted to go for an i3 CPU but that breaks the budget by quite a bit.

No need for a Z170 board or 3000MHz ram with this budget. A H110 chipset and 2133MHz ram makes more sense.

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £231.50
(includes shipping: £11.10)

As mentioned, you need to specify which form factor the case you have is. Do you need storage too? Copy of Windows or another OS?

He wants future upgradeability though... not that big a difference in prices, at least not enough to get an i3 processor.

I'd rather spend money on the more important things, like a motherboard, than skimp and save to get a slightly better processor. I did this with my first ever computer and it helped me in the years to come with the ability to upgrade both GFX and CPU to improve computing performance when needed.

There is almost a £50 difference between your choice of board and an Asus H110M-K. I would say that is a big enough difference with this budget.

The i3 will help with the Video Editing as it has hyperthreading, and the H110 board will still accept an i5 or i7 in the future.

No need to spend £18ish on a cpu cooler and paste. That cpu comes with a stock Intel cooler. Also 1 x 8GB Ram would be better on that board as there are only 2 ram slots.

I thought it might do, but couldn't see that it came with one of on the product description. Do all CPU's OC sell come with cooler's?

True about the RAM, but the cheapest way to get 8gb's I could find was 2 X 4's.

Only the retail 'non k' cpu's come with stock coolers. Any oem chip won't have one included either.

This ram would do fine. It just doesn't have the fancy heatspreaders.
