Hi all

Seeking your collective expertise.. I require a new build to replace my ageing 2500k, what an amazing chip that has been. This is purely for gaming.

I will be keeping my 500Gb SSD, 1070 and monitor Dell 27" 1440p 144Hz

So 1k ish budget,

I like the look of the
Raijintek Asterion Classic Aluminium Midi Tower Case - Black Window

and want a
AMD Ryzen 7 Eight Core 2700X 4.35GHz (Socket AM4) Processor - Retail

and additional 1Tb SSD

I have no idea regarding MB/RAM/PSU/Cooling so feel free to advise accordingly. Would like it to look good in terms of colour co-ordination and braided cables if possible..

If this build can last 5 years+ like my 2500K I'll be very happy.

Thanks

little bit over ,

went along the lines of you keeping your current PSU . intel 9700k 8 core 8 threads, cant match ryzen 2700x with thread count but will gain more fps for gaming- though gains arent as much at 1440p than over 1080p

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £1,045.49 (includes shipping: £12.60)

ryzen with PSU, but changed case to keep some costs down- but has USB 3.1 C connection and RGB

B CODE
My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £1,011.39 (includes shipping: £12.60)

money would be on intel for PURE Gaming - 8 core will last a long time regardless if its amd or intel as i7 4 core only know showing its age with most recent AAA titles like use more cores

Thanks for the reply, just what I was after.
On the RGB side of things, is that fully customisable, i.e can be turned off , as all that lighting could be overkill at times..
Also, what configuration would you recommend for the 6 fans, 3 front, 2 top, 1 rear?
Finally, if I wanted an AIO what would you recommend ?

Thanks again

yep can be turned off! unlike strix once you turn the mobo lighting off it stay off haha ( unless they have updated that)
With black windows, the RGB is cut to a nice glow, if you dont have any lighting... you might as well get a full metal paneled case as you cant see anything - specially with raijintek, bequiet and Jonsbo cases, tint is too dark.

Im a massive fan of alphacool/bequiet AIO as they are actually proper all in one units, and not cheap CLC that asetek make (alumin rads and thin tubing along with weak pumps) , but with ryzen- you dont need an impressive cooling solution . the intel would benifit though!

with the top case, as you mentioned, 3 intake at the front, 2 exhaust at the top and rear exhaust.

with the in-win build. 3 at the bottom, intake . exhaust at the rear and 2 exhaust at the back

if your cashing Frames, specially lowest min frame rate possible then intel . also, thermal grizzly non-metal paste for £5 !
