Hey guys, just looking for some new front tyres for my Civic, had the full set replaced with Goodyear Eagle DSG3's in November '08 and have only lasted about 15,000 miles, which I thought wasn't great for a 108hp car thats driven pretty normally!

Wasn't sure if the Eagle's really should have lasted longer, but at my service was told that they are now down to 2mm already.

Any advice on good ones? Obviously don't want to scrimp and get Kumho or LingLong, but don't wanna overpay on something more than what I need!

Cheers :)

Got the same size tyres on my Focus 1.6, currently running the following without any problems. Haven't had them on long enough to know how long they'll last unfortuantely but I'd definitely recommend them.

Front - Uniroyal Rainsport 2
Back - Falken FK452

Maybe I mistook them with something else for being a budget brand? Not sure :)

Nowt wrong with the Kumho KU31, cracking tyre for the price. Sure, Kumho do have some budget crap in their range, but the KU31 is a good 'mid range' tyre. I have them all round on the Golf, and they are noticeably better than the Toyo T1R's that were on the car previously, especially in the wet.

I've had 4 Kumho K31's on my 17's now for about a month and very pleased me them.

£250 fitted and handling my 180bhp through FWD fine.

Black Circles seems to have reviews on the KU-31 but is talking about runflats? Hmm!

But at £62 each delivered doesn't seem too bad! Will have a look round mytyres etc.. any other recommended places? as my local tyre fitter I usually use wants to charge £100 for Vredesteins nowadays! Oof!

I put KU31's on my car, they were about £30 more, fitted at the place I had them done than buying them on camskill, so I went with that out of convenience

Are ku39 supposed to be better as they took a beating in the evo test?

the ku31 didnt do particularly well in the evo test howevermany years ago, but then there are loads of variables, even the type of car its on etc

turns out that ku39 is actually lower in the range, in terms of performance, than the ku31. their product range doesnt look straight forward at all

I don't know TBH, I did think that when I saw the tyre test, but I can only go on personal experience, and that tells me that they are a better tyre than the Toyos. Perhaps that's not saying much, but I'm certainly impressed with them considering the cost, and they perform nicely on track too.

I'd have a look at the Vredestein Ultracs. Had a set on my astra that went to the Nurburgring twice in 2 years with the same set on and I found them very good and the wear rate great. They were also one of the first things I fitted to my Civic when I got that last April. They took the 10 laps of last years Nurburgring trip with ease, and will still be going strong in 7 weeks time when I go back over there again

Tyre tests do my head in. In fact, tyres full stop are SO difficult to judge and choose, because what works on one car feels like a pile of sick on another.

Well I can now confidently tell you that after trying two of the top high performance tyres, its clear to me that... I cant tell the difference between Eagle F1 and Contisport Contact 3.

Not rained yet, mind.
