Ok, after returning to OC’ers for a little advice on an upgrade, once again I have a NEW BUILD ITCH THAT NEEDS SCRATCHING!!

CURRENT OLD SETUP (don’t snigger with your ice cooled monsters)
CURRENT SPEC (windows 7 32bit)
Motherboard : Gigabyte GA-M56S-S3
Processor : AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+ 3.1GHZ
4GB (2x2gb) PC2-6400 DDR2 800mhz
GCARD XFX Radeon HD 4830 512mb
1x 1tb OS drive
2x 1tbs backup / storage drives

I DONT DO GAMING!
This machine is built for ADOBE CREATIVE SUITE
Photoshop / Illustrator / and a little Premier Video Editing
along with general day to day tasks, OFFICE and Internet

I would like to donate the old graphics card to save money on the new build (but that is the only reason, i require dual screen output) I am not fussed in regards to CPU / RAM Brands just want a good bang for my buck

DO REQUIRE! At least 6GB of ram would prefer 8GB and would ideally like SSD OS DRIVE

SPEC ME.. £450 or Less (can it be done)

THANKS IN ADVANCE!
(feels nice to be in the warm bussom of OC Forum, but feel this is going to upset my credit card provider)

side note.. I am prepared to lose a drive to replace it with the SSD (incase the amount of sata connections is an issue)

The motherboard has Lucid Virtu and SSD caching.

Included a new PSU, didnt think you would have a nice new one?

So keep your existing case (if it fits a ATX mobo?) and optical drive ( if its also SATA?)

Very nice build...
BUT.. prefer a new case and bigger SSD
(dont no if i am dreaming with that idea,
just not sure 30gb is going to cut the mustard)

Well the fact is it has been done before with OEM licenses which are only tied to the motherboard.

i have tried oem licenses in the past and they will not install the 64bit version, so i guess some people have been lucky. and there have also been lots of posts on here with the same issues. but if it works for you then fair enough.

Hate to disagree, but I'm going to :-)

OEM licenses in my experience are specific to the 32 or 64bit version. Its definately the case with the dell oem licenses anyway, Its also the same with vista retail licenses, I tried that a while back with two identical versions of Vista ultimate retail one 64bit one 32, definately couldn't use the 32bit code on a 64bit install.

E-I

Same here. Dell gave me a 32-bit OEM Vista disc for my laptop. When I said to them that I needed a 64-bit version as it had 4Gb of RAM they as good as told me to **** off.

i have seen more, but cant find them at the moment.
