I've been using a cheap £10 stereo speakers from logitech for about a year now and I think its time for an upgrade. The logitech speakers do sound good, but nothing special.

Budget = £50

I've had my eye on either the Logitech X-530 or Logitech X-540.

Thanks.

I dont think an X-530 or X-540 would be an upgrade in terms of sound quality tbh. I'd say if you want better SQ Logitech does those Z10's and they sound superb for their size, the bass and sound quality is impressive imo.

Guess I'll go sing a song or two out on the street to raise some extra money.

Was wanting 5.1 but if the 2.1 z10's are better SQ, then I guess thats the better choice. I already have a 5.1 setp-up for my tv anyway.

Thanks.

They are 2.0, if you like bass then the Z10's wont be for you.

I used to have the X-530's until I recently switched to studio monitors.

They were fantastic speakers tbh, clear sound, could be pushed a long way and just generally good value for money.
Recommend them if you're after a 5.1 set.

Went with the logitech speakers as I've always liked logitech.

I'm using an old Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 2 6.1 sound card, will this be good enough or is it time for an upgrade?

At first I used them with onboard sound which was ok, I then went up to an XtremeMusic by Creative which made them sound great.

That card will be fine. X-Fi boasts 192khz over 2 channels but only 96khz over 5.1+ systems, same as earlier SB cards. Both 24 Bit.

Latest drivers for XP, Daniel Ks modded drivers for Vista here if you want full surround support via CMSS. :)

I wouldn`t have splashed out on a X-Fi Xtreme if I knew about the modded drivers at the time of sale. My Audigy SE sounds undistinguishable vs X-Fi under Vista 64 :\

Got just the ticket for you here Rob :)
