Hye guys,

A guild mate of mine, has asked to sort out a spec for him, for a new PC to play WoW (at decent settings) on. His max cost around £500 (including an operating system). I think he might see if he can get Overclockers to build it for him, but I was wondering if you could spec something for around £500, that he could then ask Overclockers to build.

Thanks in advance ^^

Mads

You could probably cut a bit off the cost but it's tricky speccing a full gaming system for £500 including OS. Any chance he could do the build (or get someone else to) and use some of the components from his old computer?

I think one of our other guildies could build it for him, and post it down to him.

Thanks for the spec. I realise it is pretty hard to get one for £500, but it's greatly appreciated.

No worries, from what I remember WoW doesn't need a massively powerful graphics card but can be quite cpu hungry. The Athlon 250 is pretty good value at £52 and I *think* should be fine for WoWing.

Should run WoW just dandy and comes in under budget.

Looking at this review, it seems that Nvidia GPUs do unusually well in this particular game. With this in mind I would suggest using a GTS 250 graphics card if you can.

I recommend going with redmint's spec, this PSU and swap out the GPU for a GTS 250, you should have a pretty rapid WOW PC.

Alternatively, this pre-built machine + Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit would be almost the same spec and already constructed.

This. Do this. All the hassle out the way and that would run WoW more than adequately, after all, like I said, a netbook can run WoW.

Maybe it can run WoW, at lowest settings, and not fighting yes.

But we are clearing ICC now on 25 man, so need decent computers to run it. Northrend is a lot more detailed than the rest of WoW. Plus some addons, and it becomes very hard to run WoW, at good graphics, will maintaining good enough FPS to raid with.

Thank you however, for all the advice here.
