Hey looking for a drill heavy DIY user been renovating my house from top to bottom and broke my old cheap drill.

I have been lending the in-laws 18v makita with hammer action [black and white] its a very nice drill a lot lighter than my old one and got a lot of power compare to my old one, I also really like the charge time its one of these new
Li - on power packs ? super fast charge time. My old drill did have 2 power packs but they did take HOURS to charge so i think if i got one with the newer style power pack i would only need one.

Budget of around £100 maybe push it a little.
any advice welcome thanks

Dewalt/makita 18v hammer drills at around £100, can't really go wrong with one of them. I'm on my phone so can't easily link but have a look on screw fix or something.

Edit - sorry they actually appear to be 14v, could have sworn you could get 18v ones for that price.

Ideally you want a pair of batteries as you can keep using the drill while the other is charging. I have one of these but only paid £39.99 three years ago. Two batteries with 1 hour charge time, 5 year warranty too. I have used their warranty after drilling loads of metal that was thicker than the recommended maximum and burnt the motor out. From applying for a RMA to recieving a brand new drill was just under a week. It's a very good drill for the price and the warranty service is excellent.

I have this 18v Li on Makita kit, and this is the cheapest I can find it £129.18 http://www.lawson-his.co.uk/makita-bhp453rftk-18v-li-ion-cordless-co-p131453?utm
The ones with the red battery are the non Li-on ones, much cheaper, but not the same quality.
You don't really need a second battery as the charge tiem is just enough to make and drink a cup of tea. The bits etc are really good quality, and well worth having. I've been doing up my house for the last 18m, killed two cheap drills, got this and have been happy ever since.

Needs to be cordless! Dont want to even try putting a new ceiling up with a corded drill lol :P

Yeah i was really impressed by the lion power pack on the makita.
I Seen and played with a dewalt in my local hire centre it was the pro range and looked very well built the weight of it was shocking !

hitachi Looks to fit the price tag with the new batteries.

Altho i really did fancy one of the makitas like :P

I'd suggest looking into this setup.http://www.screwfix.com/p/erbauer-ere098kit-18v-combi-drill-driver-kit/60004

I use power tools all day long, my trusty de walts. About 7 years back i was on a firm who only used the brand i'm suggesting, after using them for a few months i though they were great for the price. Not heavy and off balanced, good power and i'm sure the charge time was good too.

For someone who is using them for diy and other light work i think you will be more than happy with them, down side is £33.00 quid more than you want to spend but you do get 1 drill and 1 driver.

Get the Dewalt xps 18v from screwfix for £129. Stinking drill for trade nevermind diy. I got another battery for work but you won't need one. Extended warranty too if you send your reciept to Dewalt. Not that you'll need it.

Like i said, i used them for months and they were without fault for me and the rest of the fellas. 90% of the tradesmen i meet on site use De Walt or makita and the other 10% use Ebaurer it seems and these are quality workmen doing quality work too.

Was there any reason for staying away from them?
