Spec me a 1TB hdd

Need reccomendations on a good 1TB mechanical hdd. It appears as if my samsung F3 has bit the bullet. Not showing up in bios or windows.

I have one of these and must say it's been really good. Much faster than my older 500gb Seagate barracuda (ST3500418AS)

run chkdisk on it

can recommend another Sammy f3

if you can find one,seagate/wd/hitachi ect ect all suck

Yep, ive ran chkdisk and it completed ok. But every now and again on reboot the drive dissapears.

Ideally id like another F3 but theyre hard to find.

checked the sata and molex connectors? ive never had issues with mine

can recommend the Sammy 2tb f4 also

seagates are ok I guess but nothing like Samsung for quietness/reliability imo

Yep, checked all connections and used a brand new sata cable from my mobo's accessory pack. Never owned a seagate drive but ive got a western digital 250gb in my second rig thats been working grand for 7 years now.

I would go with what you know then,wd

I havnt owned one so cant comment,seagates ive owned and they havnt failed on me but the older ones are noisy as a bag of nails,some of the modern ones suffer the chirping noise

tried it on another sata port? im just thinking an intermittent connection,but could be faulty

Gonna try it on another port later. To get at the sata ports means taking out the top gpu.
