Spec me a 24 port switch for home network

Are you doing anything that would require a managed switch?

In general if you have to ask the question then you don't need a managed switch.

And managed is a bit of a blanket term, available features will vary.

Not really I guess.

I think it's between these now:

TP-Link TL-SG1024DE 24 Port Gigabit Easy Smart Switch with Simple Network Set-Up

or the cheaper one:

TP-Link TL-SG1024D 24-Port Gigabit Desktop/Rackmount Switch

Or the trendnet:

TRENDnet TEG-S24Dg 24 Port GREENnet Gigabit Ethernet 10/100/1000Mbps Switch

Decisions, decision....

TEG-S24G (full length, different to the one you suggested)

Also, look up LackRack
£5 Ikea table for making a super cheap rack!

You can easily cut the legs to make it fit into any height

Bought a 24 port Trendnet myself this year, hasn't skipped a beat :) One of the lowest power consumption, fanless models I could find.

Can something more than 1U be fitted by adjusting the shelves? I have a server which is 3U on its side I think. This table would be ideal for me, server in the bottom, 24 port managed switch and a patch panel.

These are the options that fit 'U' racks

The one with a shelf will fit this in without modification..

Slides in nicely

The legs are hollow, but are reasonably strong. I do stand on the tables, but wouldn't jump on them :D
