I need to put a 2 meter workbench into my newly constructed mancave.

I was considering making a frame out of 3x2 inch timber and topping it with some 38mm worktop (about £100 from B&Q).

What other options should I consider?

Ta :)

Depends how strong you want it! You could fab it from 1" steel.

I went for 2 IKEA kitchen workunits and a seconds top from my local Maxwells DIY. They have damaged worktops I think mine cost me £12!

Hmm - 2nds - that would work well. It doesn't have to be perfect - only usable! I'll try some builders yards later on/in the morning. Thanks :)

I honestly thought this would be about someone's £2m workbench they had in their millionaire's super shed!

I think that to make me feel better, OP, you should find me pictures of the most awesome shed you can.

I can bung a load of my daughter's shiny sprinkles on my garden shed and take a picture of it if you want? Do anything for you? :D :p

Sparkly's not really doing it for me.

Think Batcave. Hop to it, OP, your vague wording caused a lot of heartbreak and it's down to you to fix it.

There's a Halloween party in town this weekend - there maybe some fluorescent cut-outs of bats that I could steal (I wouldn't normally steal things, but I am very sorry that you feel I have mislead you) and stick on. Would that be ok?
