I have all the luck, my old X-Fi broke last week, so ordered a new Asus Xonar D2X, that arrived today, but yesterday night by Z-5500 speakers packed up! Seems to be a popular failing with the control pod.

I've logged it with Logitech but it's out of warranty and I'm not expecting them to help.

So, looking for a replacement, apparently the Z906's aren't as good. Budget wouldn't want to pay more than £300 (on a side note I bought my Z-5500 in 2008 for £185, now they are £320!?). Needs to be 5.1, and have optical/and Coax inputs.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

There's an onkyo receiver and speakers if you could push to 350 that would doca real nice job and have a lot of flexibility, or maybe look for something like a Denon avr 1910 second hand, I've seen them for 150. Then again some second hand surround speakers, the all in one computer kits are a bit naff IMO

Seems like I might be ok...

Contacted Logitech about the Z-5500 being broke and 6months out of warranty asking if I could get another control pod. Said they don't have them anymore but they are willing to send out the new Z906 as a replacement!!

Got to wait around a week, and everyone seems to say the Z906 isn't as good as the Z-5500 but if it's saving me spending £350 on new equipment, I'm not going to complain!
