I'm moving the old (9 years) plasma TV to bedroom, so need a new TV for the living room.

I don't want to spend more than £1000.

i'm looking at PANASONIC VIERA TX-55CX400B but just because its only 749.. willing to spend a bit more if there are better options

has to be sony if your buying lcd due to them using another colour for every pixel compared to other manufacturers.

ok so now you are costing me more money, woppy101s suggestion the
Sony Bravia KD55X85 4K Ultra HD LED 3D for 999 at John Lewis... anyone have any thoughts on this one? really want to go and buy now, don't think it will fit in the car though!

John Lewis deliver.

I saw several of 4K LED TVs a few days ago - I was shopping for a sound system so I didn't note brands - and the quality really isn't there. While native 4K video looks very good, issues with poor upscaling from SD and broadcast HD were clearly present.

The sony is so good for pictur quality when I went looking for a new tv.BUT there android operating system is flawed. Go look at the sony comunity forum and combined with the pannel problems that can show up.really put me off sony tvs.

Thanks I was short listing the KD-65X8509 until I read the threads.
But I can't understand the crosstalk problems in 3D? hasn't active 3D got an option to line the image up like passive 3D?

I moved from a 2012 samsung plasma PS51E6500EU forced by the fact my 5 year old broke the screen with a toy . 4 LCDs later including the 4k 55 cx680 panasonic all returned i picked up a second hand Samsung plasma and more than happy with it.

Issues ranged from very very poor viewing angles, clouding, DSE and banding (sony w829 had panel fault and DSE). Also i found motion on the 4k CX680 poor due to juddering double imaging which the IFC setting introduced too many motion glitches. But the CX680 had a very good upscaled sky HD picture and gaming looked very good on the screen. 4K did not look that impressive on the 55 think you need a bigger screen to appreciate it.

More than happy for 4k OLED TVs with UHD blurays to come down in price before i change.
