yeah thats right, you heard, moving out this friday and im in the market for a double/kingsize faux leather bed. only downside is after 2k of advance rent paying im left with about £300 budget for a bed, so anywhere with a bed sale on and bonus points for quicker than a week delivery.

We recently bought a faux leather king size ottoman (storage) sleigh bed from 'furnishings direct' on ebay:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/5FT-KING-SIZE-BROWN-PU-LEATHER-SLEIGH-STORAGE-OTTOMAN-BED-MATTRESS-SHOP-/130668439367?pt=Beds_Mattresses&hash=item1e6c722747

It's a little bit over your budget, but it gives a good amount of out-of-sight storage ( mostly taken by the wife's shoe collection  ) and seems to be good quality.

I think their ebay store is for end-of-range stuff, so not a lot of choice on there, but their main website has a bigger range ( http://www.furnishingsdirect.co.uk/new/index.php?route=product/category&path=62 )

Just be wary that Ikea beds are not standard dimensions so if you find like I did that their mattress is pap, the normal size ones will be 5cm smaller all round. Not too bad going that direction but an Ikea mattress won't fit a normal bed.

Have you thought about looking into local auction houses? I picked up a Victorian oak bed at auction for just over £150, and the build quality is far superior to modern day ones. Hell, it's lasted something like 150 years and is still rock solid. Just get a mattress and plonk it on the floor for now and have a dig around to see what you can find.

Buy a matress from matressman and than purchase a cheapo frame from ikea or even matressman. Only thing to watch with matress man is the delivery time.

I have an old double ikea matress you can have if you want it. Bit old and crusted. but still in one piece. I think it is a ikea sultan matress, collection only.

Personally, I'd spend £300 on a mattress today and just keep it on the floor until I can afford the £200-£300 for a decent frame to put it on.

Me, I like pocket sprung mattresses (with a quilted top) but memory foam is also very good it depends on your preferences.
