Hi all,

Looking for a TV for the bedroom, something like 40-43", budget of around £300.

We don't watch a lot of live TV, mainly catch up and on demand. We would like to be able to stream content from my PC or laptop to the TV wirelessly if possible. Used to do this with a HDMI cable but having multiple devices makes it kind of annoying, so wireless would be amazing. Not sure whether TVs can do this as standard nowadays or whether we'd need to buy something separate to be able to do this?

As we don't really use any 4k sources, I'm assuming it's not really necessary to buy a 4k TV? We use Netflix and have the best package but not everything on there is actually 4k right? Other than that, it'll just be regular HD stuff.

Any ideas or recommendations would be greatly appreciated, thanks. :)

Toshiba 49" 4k DV TV in Tesco is 349 I got one in the bedroom it picks up my Plex server and plays back the content ok (although the TV does not have Plex) Netflix is built in but no Amazon works fine over wi-fi too. The 1080p version I believe is 299.

Thanks for the suggestion. However, looks like Tesco don't sell TVs anymore!

Looking elsewhere there's a 43" Toshiba for 299 that I assume is the same or similar? Either way seems to meet my specs (43U5863DB).

Also looking at the LG 43UK6200PLA and the Philips 43PUS6523 for the same price. All 3 are 43", 4K, rather similar specs, so it'll come down to which panel is better I guess? Anyway to know which will be better?

Also seeing a lot of different features for mirroring my PC screen to my TV. Some TVs have stuff like Miracast and Google Cast built-in, are these a requirement to be able to do this or are there better/easier ways?

Tesco doesn't sell TVs online any more. Too many burnt corporate fingers; trying to undercut the competitors without realising the cost of support and DSR for relatively expensive bits of tech. Still sell in-store though where they can control things a bit better.

Yeah sorry wasn't specific, meant online!

Looking at the LG as the front runner at the minute, unless anyone knows any reason why we shouldn't go for it?

If it's still the 6200 from the listing earlier in the thread then check the reviews and comments about screen brightness. Some of the 6000 series have received complaints that in order to make the screen look brighter when playing 4K HDR they dialled-down the brightness for HD and SD to the point where the picture looks drab compared to other brands.

Are the Toshiba tellies any good?

As a second screen for the bedroom it's fine but it doesn't come remotely close to my Oled.

There is backlight bleed but with a few tweaks I got this down to a bearable amount and turned off all the processing. For price Vs performance and screen size I'm happy with my purchase however I did pick it up for £260 on black Friday.

BIB: Really? A TV that's cheap even by budget LCD standards isn't the same performance as your premium-grade latest tech' OLED which costs x4 or x6 or x8 the money. You do surprise me. Lol :D:D:D
