Spec me....a beer

Leffe is fantastic, bruin is my favorite but the blonde is pretty good too. Handle with care though as they're both pretty strong.

Aye, 6.6% doesn't sound like much... but when you work it out it's actually a third more alcohol than a "standard" beer... so when you have one 750ml bottle, you're actually drinking the equivalent of 2 pints of a normal beer. :o

Sometimes only a Special Brew will do. It's an acquired taste but was actually Carlsberg's 'premium' lager in the 1980's. super strength is associated with street drinking now though. Gives a great warm feeling that nothing else gives mind, though I suggest I am in the minority on this particular forum, with this view. Not really a social drink. haha.
Fav beers of mine include - Bombardier, Hobgoblin, London pride, Hens tooth, Newky brown, Pedigree, Black Sheep, Lagers - stella, Kroney, export.

We're lucky round here, got a local brewery and pubs that serve it all :D

Golden Tankard, Keelman Brown, Big Lamp Bitter, Blackout (13% :D) Old Rosie

To name a few...

ahh, 'Old Rosie' 7.1% scrumpy cider! Awesome drink especially if you manage to get it on Draught, goes down so easily, as is totally still with No Fizz. They sell it in most Wetherspoon pubs in the cartons and I got it on draught once, great cider. Certainly picks the mood up!haha.

few of my faves, Old Peculier, Hobgoblin, Circle Master, Poachers Choice.

not sure if i like the new hobgoblin label more, more 3d looking with a union jack, still good.
guess someone had an issue with the axe?

Theres always Golden Pride :p

Hoegarden (especially nice on a summer evening with a wedge of lemon in the wide rimmed glass), Duvel (but be prepared for a kick, it's stronger than a lot of beers commonly consumed in the UK @ ~8.5% ABV). I'm also partial to Leffe Brun (slightly stronger than Leffe Blond).

You could also try some traditional Belgian Lambics or Geuzes but they are an acquired taste - the other option is to go for a Kriek which is a Geuze that has had cherries added before final fermentation to flavour it (originally so that women would be more palletable for women if you can believe it).

I got called a girl for drinking Hoegarden once, quite funny.

I said it's better than the other pap you are selling, by far (carlsberg/fosters/stella) :p

Duvel as you said is nice also.

Thwaites - Double Century or Wainwright if you can source it (Morrisons had it for a week)

Don't go for the really strong ones, the strength often kills the flavour and you end up with a sweet syrupy beer.

+1 (Except for Moonraker)

Innus and gun (the special one that comes in a lue box, forget the name) is really nice.

That the one in the 330ml bottles too? That's amazing but I feel robbed at the price :D

As for strength, that's not going to affect the sweetness or the taste.

You can make a dry strong beer. The key is ensuring that your starting mavity (sugar per gallon) is inline with the attenuation of the yeast (and enough yeast is used). Sounds like it's designed as a kids beer.. high ABV + sweetness.
