Spec me a bike ~£150-180

Yes 20" should be fine for your height. It's best to sit on them but I know you can't always do that.

It depends on the "good" condition - has it been looked after? Does anything need replacing? (hope for an honest seller) It's a steel framed bike so it will be heavy as hell, but some people like steel tanks. Also has gripshift gears and some people don't like that (I don't but some do).

That's good then thank you, I don't think I can tell if a bike is too small for me.

I may as well post the advert, plenty of pictures... I could pick it up very soon. I've emailed the seller already and the guy reckons it's barely been used and in pretty perfect condition so if I see it and it all seems good it's a good buy? Mostly very positive reviews although you're right, a few do mention the weight and gears.

Steel frames are heavy but you will get a smoother ride. However I think 14kg is a lot of weight if you plan to go up any hills or stairs. To get an idea of size, pop into an Evans and ask them to size you up.

It was a forum post saying 14.5kg. The reviews are pretty positive and say it's fairly heavy but not a big deal, I don't mind gripshift gears at all.

The guy in Evans gave me a Large hybrid to test, and 56cm road bike. Also said it varies between bikes a little so I'm not 100% sure but I think a 20" frame will be fine.

I like the look of this bike, just one last thing... £140 is a fair deal? 2010 Kona Smoke Hybrid in v. good condition (from the pictures at least I think the seller's being truthful).

gambitt's right too, I may upgrade to a road or better bike in a year or so but I don't think I can regret spending £140 on this for now.
