Spec me a black illuminating kettle

The window is behind the handle.

Exactly. My current old stainless steel morphy richards (or it might be russell hobbs, all the print has worn off except an 'o') has the window behind the handle and it's not that convenient to see the water level. So I want a window to the side. Tbh, I don't really need a window at all as I always top a kettle up out of habit every time I make tea. And I don't need lights. But it's nice for aesthetics.

I have this one too, there is no condensation, but a lime scale build up. To clean, simply fill with water and add some vinegar and leave over night. Sparking Clean the next morning, like new.

Hmm, interesting. Now I have to decide between the glass one and the one Will Gill has as I like them both. Have you had yours long enough to see if it still cleans up like new after a few months?

I have a Sainsbury's kettle that perfectly matches your description and hasn't broken yet. My gf keeps knocking the limescale filter off with the tap, but it's hardly a design fault.

Sainsburys have a reasonably nice looking black Bosch kettle for £20! Still, it doesn't illuminate or I'd be very tempted. http://www.sainsburys.co.uk/sol/sho...3gb-village-kettle-black.html?hnav=4294903002

I've realised that Will Gill's Breville still hot kettle only seems to have a push lid button by pressing the centre rather than a button on the handle which is what I really prefer. That's what it looks like on the pictures unless that silver button doubles up as kettle on and lid release. I think I'm going for this as it ticks all the boxes, and just looks so sleek! Some people hate this look though, and it's square on a round base. But the black and grey matches my kitchen perfectly, as I have gloss black units and dark grey tiles.

Have had it about 2 years (I think) Cleans up just fine every time. Just don't make the mistake I made, and boil it with vinegar in it. House smelled like a fish and chip shop :)

Got a Breville black plastic one with window and blue light - I will swop it for a new stainless steel one with you - have to change water after every boil as it tastes foul -- scale builds up on rim and if you scratch it off the plastic covering flakes off as well - OK it boils water but would much prefer a SS metal one.

I got my kettle! In the end I decided on the Prestige glossy black and grey. I love the look of it and the cool looking blue illuminated on off switch. 3000w and boils a full jug really quick in just over a minute or so.

On removing a sticker from the kettle, gluey residue was left behind which fairy liquid and a soft sponge didn't shift. I've got plenty of things to remove it but didn't want to risk spoiling the gloss finish. I rang Prestige who recommended putting mayonnaise on, letting it sit for a couple of minutes and wiping it off. Lol, it actually worked perfectly.

As there's not a single unboxing and demonstration vid on youtube of this kettle other than a manufacturer's promo vid, and seeing as I've never joined the masses and done an unboxing video, I thought I'd have a go at making one. Full credits at the end too. Enjoy (or not!). :D

Yes! That is one of my favourites and the one I mentioned about going from blue to red as it boils. Is it good, are you happy with it?

Here's my shortlist

We had 3 of those in around 15 months. First one lasted around 9 months before the lid broke and the led's failed.
The wife liked the look so bought another from argos and after 2 days the hinge on the lid snapped completely. Took it back for a replacement which lasted around 6 months before it started leaking water everywhere.
It's a nice looking kettle but the quality is crap and i definitly would not buy another.

Hmm. Will have to see what happens then. Guarantee is for 2 years so plenty of time for several potential failures and free replacements.
