Time to finally bite the bullet and get rid of my ST. Current value is around 9k but looking to get something a bit cheaper with similar performance, ideally for no more than 5k. So I have some left over to pay off some debts.

325ti ?

Unloved compact means that it'll be cheaper than an equivalent ci..

You say that but they seem to command pretty bonkers money actually.

What are the reasons for getting rid of the ST - if its financial then an old BMW is going to be no cheaper to run.

I really don't like the look of the 325ti, looks like a car that's been reversed into a truck and now has the same rear end as an Astra :p

I am also open to other options aslong as it full fills the above criteria.

Has to have similar performance to the ST, be comfortable to drive and pleasing to the eye. Ohh and if it helps in attracting the opposite sex i wont complain either :P

Judging by the lads around Paignton on saturday trying to attract the opposite sex with their cars, it's an old Punto with bling rimz and a massive exhaust you want.

Maybe an E39 if comfort is important - they have aged (IMO) better than the e46 and still look like an expensive car

Leon Cupra R is worth considering, very similar to the ST but more economical, and you can pick them up for around £5k.

Only reason I'm ditching the st is to free up some cash. Running costs are not an issue

This always perplexes me. If you need to sell a car to release £4k then without wanting to sound rude, maybe you do need a car with lower running costs.

All that needs to happen is for the older car to throw some big bills at you and that £4k will soon be whittled down.

Without going into too much detail, i need the money to open my options up with regards a few things, if it wasnt for that i'd be sticking with the ST without question.

Don't go into detail...for the love of god, dont go into detail :)
