Spec Me a Book

I'm looking for a new book to read, I read Child 44 a while ago and before that American Psycho.

I want something that is similar to American Psycho; basically something gory and grotesque. I may read American Psycho again, it really is a fantastic book.

Also, I'd consider something 'scary', I've heard 'Pet Sematary' is good?

Red Dragon by Thomas Harris if you've never read it is well worth the read. All of the "Lambs" trilogy are good but for my money that's the best of the lot.

Child 44 was pretty good too, the author now has out The Secret Speech with the same hero so you might like to try that also - I've not read it yet so can't comment properly on its merits.

I'd recommend a Chuck Palahniuk book, I particularly enjoyed Survivor.

I always thought that American Psycho was overrated, until I saw the film and then went back and read the book again, I suppose it lacks imagination on my part but Christian Bale did so well, it made me look at the book in a whole new light.

At the minute I am re-reading The Road by Cormac McCarthy, in preparation of the film, I hear that Vigo Mortenson is going to play the dad.
