Hey guys,

This is a hard task admittedly but can anyone spec me up a bitcoin pc for around £300?

Obviously amd parts, I dont need Monitor, keyboard mouse etc just main components.

Can be m-atx, doesnt matter.

Have built pc's for years but never for purpose of bitcoin so would appreciate help!

Ben

Buy used. An old core system with a PCI-E 2.0 slot (e.g socket 775 board with a 1.6GHz Celeron and 512MB of DDR2 for pocket change), then get a case with decent airflow, a quality 500W+ PSU and the best AMD GPU you can find. The only component which actually matters is the GPU. Just keep it happy. (good airflow, good PSU)

You should be able to do something like that with an HD7950 for £250.

This is the best I can do new with OcUK stock:

YOUR BASKET
1 x VTX3D HD 7870 X-Edition 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card £149.99
1 x EVGA 500W 80 Plus Bronze Power Supply (100-B1-0500-KR) £39.95
1 x **B Grade** Aerocool Qs-200 Lite Midi Tower Case - Black £34.99
1 x Intel Celeron G1610 2.7GHz (Ivybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor - OEM £31.99
1 x **B Grade** MSI H61M-P31-G3 Intel H61 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard £25
1 x TeamGroup Elite 2GB (1x2GB) DDR3 PC3-10666C9 1333MHz Single Channel Module (TED32GM1333C901) £16.99
Total : £298.91 + shipping

You would also do much better mining Litecoins rather than Bitcoins. Look into it :)

Can u do litecoins with the rig above? Thanks for speccing up!

no one used gfx card to mine bitcoins no more as they use more electric then bitcoins they produce, there are usb devices now which run in the gigahash range rather then megahash that a gfx card can do

Do you know roughly how long it takes to mine a bitcoin with one of those though?

About the same as with GPU's of equivalent mining potential, in part of a pool I assume?

They cost £150 inc shipping and can pull as many Mh/s as a pair of 7990's.

I literally only just heard of their existence and did some searching. Very interesting. But can you use them for LTC?

I am just getting into LTC myself and am wondering the same thing.

There is literally no profit to be made in mining bitcoins with normal hardware now.

If you are mining scrypt-based coins, or other coins that are profitable, then fair enough. But Bitcoin on cpu/gpu is completely a waste of time and will not see ROI.

Also, people suggest 7870's which is the best bang for buck card, but if you pay for power they are not very efficient in terms of £/hash in the medium/long-term (you can't beat the 7950's but they won't fit in your budget) because of how much power they use.

Don't take any offence, but the pure fact you are trying to spec normal hardware to mine bitcoin suggests you need to do more research first :).

you cant use redfury for script based mining, lite coins are fastest on gpu at this moment in time, some of the top 20 guys mine over 130 litecoins a day thats crazy money
