I was bought one of these for Christmas and it's really difficult to control. I've got about £110 of Nectar points and the Tello is currently £89 at Argos. I'm seriously tempted to pick one up using my points.

Oh that's interesting - I like the fact that the Drocon comes with a controller and doesn't need a phone. Do you have a link to the lightning deal (if it's still on)?Well, for better or worse I’ve ordered the Drocon I linked earlier.
Happened to check again and it was on a Lightning Deal with £20 off.
I’ll let you know whether it was a wise choice!
I assume you're talking about the fifteen quid jobbie? Yeah, I wouldn't want to fly it outside or in any wind whatsoever.Got basically the same one, but branded differently. Flew it for the first time today and it was next to impossible, even as a first timer. Lost complete control at one point and paniced as I watched it fly out the park, brought it down inches away from a ladys car as she was washing it. Never felt eye daggers like that before. Most sheepish I've felt as I walked over to retreive it. Felt like a kid asking for my ball back.
I want to be able to take it up to what I think is pretty much maximum height to look at my aerials - I'm just a little concerned about the fact that all the videos I've seen tend to complain about loss of signal when it goes up high. I suppose with Argos at least I have the fourteen day return thing. It is pretty much a no frills drone. I think you will be much impressed by the easy controls and mostly the auto stabilisation it does, I suspect that’s what majority of the cost is (in terms of technology IP)I’m waiting for an opportunity to take outside one day and see what it can do.
Looks like it has finished now.Oh that's interesting - I like the fact that the Drocon comes with a controller and doesn't need a phone. Do you have a link to the lightning deal (if it's still on)?

Sorry to drag this a bit away from the original question. I've increased my budget a little and this is what I'm looking at.

Seems to give me everything I want, GPS control, decent height and the reviews are favourable.
Drone flight attempt part 2
Went up and away from me for a bit. Then realised I had no control over it any more, just kept flying away from me and getting higher. Watched it for a good 2 minutes slowly disappear from sight. Guess it will just keep on the same trajectory until the battery dies, no idea where that will be
Good job it wasn't expensive! No more drones for me
Near any power lines? Welcome to try my old one at some point, I use my racer nowadays
Nah was in a massive field in our estate. Watched it fly over towards the houses, it was way too high to hit anything like power lines.
I never thought drones would interest me, it was only that I got this as a present. I don't think I'm coordinated enough to fly them properly anyway![]()
