I've just got myself my first dslr camera, a Nikon d3100.
Had a play with it this afternoon and the quality is excellent going from my iPhone 4!!!

What I need is a bag to put it in along with two lenses, the standard 55mm and a 300mm I'll be purchasing in the future.
I don't need to carry around battery charger, tripod etc.
I do a lot of walking so will mainly be using the bag to carry the camera and lenses with me whilst out walking.

As cheap as possible too, any recommendation ??

This has been done to death if you search, although I just got a crumpler cup cake 5500 and I'd recommend it.

I did do a search but the bags were either too big or very expensive.
I also couldn't work out if the 300mm lens would fit in.

The cheap ones I found only held the camera with one lens, no space for a 300mm

I've looked at the cupcake 4000, it says it can hold a mid size zoom lens, is a 300mm classed as mid sized?

Just looked, probably not. Depth inside of Crumpler 4000 is 21cm. I think a typical 300mm lenses is deeper. Cupcake 5500 will suit you better.

To the OP - Have you made a decision yet? I'm looking for something similar to you -

Camera, 50mm lense, 18-55 and 50-250 lense.

Haven't made my mind up 100% but I'm 99% sure I'm going for a Crumpler cupcake 5500.
Looks like its just the right size to fit everything in and not too large to carry around when out walking

I recently got a Lowpro event messenger 150. Annoyingly if you use a battery grip, it's useless as it's not wide enough to fit in my 60D with battery grip. Unless you don't attach a lens when carrying it around, which defeats the point if you use this type of bag for ease of access :|

Hey mate,

The 7500 doesn't look a lot bigger but holds a few more bits and pieces. If you get the 5500 let me know how you get on with it?

Lowepro Slingshot 102 or the 202,

the 102 is fantastic, and despite being small, it's big enough, i carry a gripped D200 with a Sigma 18-50, SB600 flash and a Sigma 28-300 and still have 3 odd pockets left.

I'd recommend it. It's quite a snug fit with a grip and 55-250mm but I don't think you'll be disappointed. I picked one up for around £30 brand new.

I'd have gone with what some others have suggested and I've done myself.... look at them in a shop, even if it means you buy them online because its cheaper.

Cupcake 5500 came today. Buying blind I'm really happy.
The bag isn't too big and fits my d3100, battery charger, bits and bobs and there's then plenty of space for a 300mm zoom lens.

Quality of the bag is excellent, really well stitched and stylish.
I went for the Turkish coffee and love the colour, everyone's tastes are different but it's perfect for me.
Next day delivery for £37.
I'd recommend it highly.

Thanks for all the suggestions
