Spec me a car please

ATi car is much more snazzier, and cheaper too. Probably uses less power as well so overall a better price performance ratio.

Just to continue the extracting the urine theme: 200sx. If on a budget get the S13 version, that comes with cool pop ups lights ;)

Whoever said the 'the crossfire', what a piece of junk! lol

Anyway: At present the older Nvidia cards are running FSX much better than anything else on the market, most likely down to the drivers. There is a review somewhere (I think tomshardware US site) that reviews the 4800 series recently, and shows the FSX scores. It will get better obviously but something to bear in mind if buying a card purely for FSX :)

Other than that, the 4850 is a damn good budget card with high performance and seriously worth considering for the money.

Would help to know what gfx card he is using now, if its fairly decent card already then as FSX performance is pretty highly dependant on CPU performance (plus most of the new gfx cards need a fast CPU to push enough data to them) you might be better off getting him a better CPU. Or get a better CPU plus a 4850 and sell the E6600 to recoup some of the difference.

Its a shame he's not had much luck overclocking, the E6600 C2D was a beast of a clocker, he should easily be able to get it to 3-3.2Ghz without even raising the voltage.

The big question is though are you going for a watercooled or aircooled car?

Aircooled cars tend to have heat issues :p

Loving the ATI cars!!

He presently has i belive an 8500 GS and gets low single figures at Heathrow at night with not particularly respectable detail levels!!

Either of the 2 cards will be a big boost i think.

Crossfire - URGH!!! lolz, this has turned into a great thread!!

Cant posibly slate that effort mate! Good work!!
Wonder if my diesel Leon Cupra would get any benefit from those!!
