Hi guys,

Looking to buy a new car, admittedly don't know much about what cars would be ideal for my price range. My price range is 5-7k, mileage under 20k if possible. Was thinking of maybe peugeot 207 but are they to womany or crap?

Appreciate any input!

STEP AWAY FROM THE PUG.

We need more information. Why under 20k? That budget could get much better value if you pick something with lets say 50k its hardly going to blow up is it?

How many miles a year you do?

Probably sum up the whole tread now and say Mondeo or focus

I had a 207 Gti as a company car and whilst it was sometimes fun to drive, I'd never buy one (Gti or not). They're distinctly average in pretty much every department : looks, luggage capacity, mpg, driving experience etc. I actually much preferred driving my wife's 1.6 Focus.

What type of driving will you be doing - stop/start in town or mainly motorway or something else? What car are you coming from? Is performance important to you? Is economy important to you? Are you open to both petrol and diesel options?

Finally, your budget of 5-7k - that's a large spread, imo. A dealer would have you up to 8k before you knew what hit you. Do you have 5k or do you have 7k to spend?

Okay stepping away from the peugeot!

I was clocking a lot of miles when I use to go to Uni, but now i'm working so dont need to drive as much but don't know what the future holds might end up driving a lot. I say under 20k as simply want a less used car.

Just want a decent car, open to suggestions. Will have a look into some Mondeo's and focus's.

I want to have the option for both stop/start town and motorways as during the week will be the odd trip to town but weekends I use motorways a lot. I'm coming from a Fiesta finesse 1998, did the job to get me around and was a hand me down from a sibling so couldn't argue :p.

I have 7k to spend as my maximum but prefer price range of around 6-6.5k. Petrol would be my preference and not to be vague but performance is important to me but so is economy!

Ok i understand where your coming from but below 20k miles doesnt always meen its been used less.

200 miles on the motorway taking 2 hours or 200 miles in town taking 5 hours?

I seems your not sure on what type of car you want so id say a focus is a good bet.

You've down well to come away from uni with 7k saved up :D

Graduated a year ago had quite a while to save up, as i said before will have a look at the Focus. Cheers.

Sporty? 207? I think you need a better idea of what you want. That money buys a nice Clio 182 (look at the show your motors thread) - definitely sporty but no idea if it's what you want
