I know im chuffed with the 4690k for gaming.
I'm half tempted to upgrade to an i7 next year just for the sake of future proofing a bit more but it would be the 4790k and drop it into my own set up then get a cheap board to put the 4690k into for my son

Christ the price of SSDs have come down considerably. When I built my last PC Crucial M4s were the rave and I believe it was £80-100 for a 64gb one. HDDs were also very expensive due to factory floods!

Yeah if you can squeeze the extra budget get an SSD. Even a 120gb for boot and a few programs. You won't regret it.

yip one of the best upgrades I done was an ssd ive just got my OS and programs on it but it does make a difference.

SSD has been the best upgrade for me by far
