Hi all,

I'm lending a hand trying to organise an event for work.

We hope to be able to get hold of a comedian to do a 45 min to 1 hour slot, starting at 8:00pm on 25th January.

The budget is £1000 (seems a lot to me, but I'm actually told if anything it will be too little to get anything decent).

Ideally being burns night we'd like a scotish comedian, but at this short notice we probably won't have a lot of choice.

We're waiting for the Comedy Store to get back to us, I just wondered if anyone here had ever organised an event before and booked entertainment, and if so who they went through?

Cheers.

JIMMY CARR!!!!

wait, £1000, hmmm doubt it for jimmy, he is also touring at the moment :(

sorry :(

edit: i just realised this reply was crap to you, dam :(

I was about to tell you to try the Comedy Store. Every time I've been they've had some top-class acts (usually Scottish or Australian, for some reason...) who are basically unknowns, so you might be able to snap them up for a grand.

They tend to be a bit foul-mouthed... but that could be just because I tend to go to the midnight shows, when all the kiddies are in bed.

comedy store promotions (who i assume you mean you've contacted) have probably half of the best comics i've seen
straying away from the scottish front you have the fine ozzy choice of jim jeffries or steve hughes, jeffries is a lot more light hearted, and downright ruder, whereas hughes, although not heavy going is very politically minded

Possibly even get both for your money, although they appeal on such different levels, i think jeffries would be much better for a work do

i'm racking my brains to think of some of the scottish comedians i've seen, i'm terrible with names :(
