Hello,

I'd prefer something along the Asus ROG Hero board and the Corsair 650d.

Going to be used for gaming and virtualisation.

Will need complete tower, OS, peripherals and monitor.

Can go over budget if needed.

Was thinking around £400 on the Monitor + Peripherals and the rest on the System?

For what its worth, might as well swap out the Akasa 850 which is semi modular for a EVGA psu that is fully modular. Evga also have one of the best warranties hands down.

Im not sure if the psu is fully modular but i chose that because its gold rated and it will allow you to sli at a great price. If you went with the k2 cooler you would probably need low profile ram .

For the price the H100 works out a better choice, for cooling and noise plus you dont need low profile ram.

It is still 350 quid worth of graphics card and more than capable at 1080p resolutions. By the time more power is really needed for standard 1080p gaming, there will be faster and better cards around than the 780 GTX.

It is a good choice. I have an HD7970 which is a bit weaker than the GTX 770, and really don't feel I have any need at all to upgrade my desktop GPU, and I like my eye candy turned up full and dont tolerate too many dropped frames from the golden v-sync'd 60FPS.

...he could spend an extra 200-250 on the GTX 780...but a lot of dosh for just a little bit more oomph....

I know this is ocuk but look around and then ask them to price match. Theres way better builds then all of the above for 2k and they come prebuilt and oced!

Considering the cards are £8-900 each, which is almost 2k, that is highly unlikely.

X79 + 780 Build food for thought, the monitor might not be a Dell but l have the 24" and l can't fault it. Going X79 6 core's + 16GB ram[Quad Channel] no worries about overclocking 4.5ghz, best of all no de-lidding due to the Haswell being hotter than Hades.
