I hear these Conroe thingys are the dog's doo-dahs, so could you guys please suggest a set-up based around one of these.
All I need is the MoBo, processor, memory (I was thinking 2GB?), and any fans necessary to keep things cool and quiet.

I don't play games, I just want lightning fast net-browsing, multimedia, and word processing/photo editing.

Cheers!

I have most things, so only need what I mentioned in the original post. Not sure about price as I'm not sure what the Conroe chip is selling for, but I guess the best processor and memory that's available and a standard MoBo which can handle the Conroe, if that makes any sense...?!

This should do it.

Enermax Liberty, FSP Blue Storm/Sparkle, OCZ Modstream, Seasonic S12 and Tagan Easycon. All are top quality, I have the Tagan Easycon 530W and have no complaints.

Confirmation of new system

Can someone please just double check this proposed setup for me, and suggest any improvements or ways to save a bit of money without loss of performance?

Well that's the one you suggested originally! In what way would a more expensive MoBo be better? I can't imagine I would need anything more than that, as long as it allows the cpu, memory, etc. to run smoothly together.

Well it will work of course but people on here (and around the world), are overclocking the nuts off these Core 2 Duo's, which the Asrock won't allow as it's a budget board. Whereas I and a lot of other people have gone for the Gigabyte DS3/DS4 & DQ6.
